So I've sourced a factory ruger stock and barrel thinking, jeeze with all the custom builds you guys are doing on here, it should be cinch to pick up a stripped frame, trigger group and bolt assembly right?

I've never taken apart a 10/22 but how hard could it be.

Well I spent the afternoon on the parts and bits EE... not as easy as it seems.

Where can a guy buy the rest of these pieces to frankenstien together a discount gun?

maybe a trigger group, but the stock and barrel are the first to go and usually easy to find... the reciever and frame is what is kept to do a 10/22 build... not too sure you will find one very easily... buy a bare bones stock 10/22 for under $300... I have given away two sets of factory stock and barrels.. kept the trigger group bolt and reciever for my project
good luck

Are you trying to build something custom or factory? From the sound of your first post I'd say factory and I'd suggest that it is not cheaper to piece on together. Factory barrels and stocks can't be given away most times, all anyone wants is the parts your looking for.

There's no reason for someone to sell their "guts". A 10/22 build will require a base 10/22 to build from, so the only replacement would be another 10/22. That is also the serialized part of the firearm, hence it is traded as a gun, and not a part (and all the paperwork that goes with it).
