If there is Ruger #1 Canadian, why not "Savage 24 Canadian"?

As close as I can come is a Brno ZH 304, 7x57R/12ga. If need be, you can form the brass, :pfrom 303 Br.

I was thinking more about Rossi if not Savage (highly unlikely by aforementioned reasons...sad :() They seems to be more adventurous kind with they market offerings.

:eek::eek::eek:
Really????

I do believe you and actually about to finalize deal with fellow CGNer on similar gun. But...
I'd love have something else and NOT in 7x57, 7x65 or another European caliber. But a bit more powerful that 30-30. 303Br sounds like an ideal for North American combo gun, no?

First off Savage model 24's at the end were cluncky and ugly, thats just the facts!The lmodel 24 would never stand 303 breech pressure! Don't get me wrong I once owned 3 differrent model 24's and like them alot. I am an advid combo user having 2 BRNO combo's and a Merkle cape gun on the way in a few weeks that I custom ordered. These guns are not cheap nomatter who makes them! If Valmet was still in buisness , maybe Savage could have made a small batch of this combo that would have worked well for most Canadian bush hunters. It is great to have dreams, without them life would be very boring, cheers Dale Z!

Info PM sent.

Nothing shabby about the performance capabilities of the 7x57mm Mauser/7x57R. Quite an adequate and effective cartridge for much of the game in North America.

I'm not suggesting 24s are perfect but it was only N.A. combo gun, other that Brno and rarities chambered in rimless calibers (not the best idea), all around gun for bush. I'd like to see it back in more, in my opinion, appropriate caliber.

Some time back, I did 'look at' one in 30-30/12ga and it did seem to be a decent combo. However, like the .22LR/20ga. model I gave to my son, I thought the finish and quality left a lot to be desired. I'm trying to be diplomatic;).

For a North American rendition of a combo gun, what I'd like to see, is something by Ruger, on something along the size of action of an older model 20ga. Ruger Red Label I have.

303 Br./20ga or 303 Br./12ga., now that I could go for. Oh, and with my Brno ZH 304 I neglected to mention, there are a number of other barrel set-ups that can be had.

But don't additional barrels require factory fitting if not purchased in one set?

It's a nice option I agree - that's another reason why I thought of Rossi since matched sets are not a foreign concept to them.

Ruger looks and sounds nice, since there was a cooperation on #1 already. Do you think that project could be accomplished on shotgun action (even customized) or will require custom one?
