Mine arrived yesterday. Loved how compact it was. I took it out of the box and dropped it into my briefcase to bring home :)

I was surprised the butt stock was thicker than I expected but then again, I shouldn't have been as it had to have the space to store all the other parts. Came with 2 mags and space to store both. If you get a third mag you can pt that in the receiver and have a total of 3 stored.

I assembled it and thought it was all very intuitive to put together. I will test further to see if the mag release works better that earlier versions. Finish is very clean and nice. All the weight centres on the receiver and I thought the barrel was very light, almost like a wand in my hand. Also surprised to find that receiver mates to the butt stock on the centre and SIDE, not just in front. Makes good sense thought.

I thought the plastic stock could use a swivel or at least have provisions to allow me to install one. This I felt would have been an important consideration.

I look forward to shooting it but do not expect it to do very well beyond plinking for fun. I know many who complaint about FTF, FTE and poor accuracy of these rifles but I wanted one for its unique and compact design. After all, it is a survival rifle.

One cannot compare safety pins against an expensive fish hook but in dire circumstances when nothing else is on hand, a safety pin will do to catch fish. As for comparing this to a Papoose, the only thing they have in common is the calibre so I don't. Don't get an AR7 is you expect it to shoot like a Papoose or 10/22. BUT you also won't get a Papoose or 10/22 to stow away as light and compact as an AR7. :)

Cheers.

Very nice. I was going to pick one up but have decided to go with a norinco backpacker .22 instead. If you use high velocity ammo you should not have any problems, so I hear anyway.

I've noticed lots of AR-7's on the EE lately and I myself had been looking for one (until someone hit and ran on my truck). Maybe i'm a bit egotistic, but i think i started the AR-7 buzz up again. at least my rather large ego says so lol. anyways nice looking rifle have fun with it.

Good pics. This thread should be updated with a range report, when you have one. There is a lot of interest in the AR-7.

Thanks. Will post a range report for sure. I think the recent surge in interest in the AR7 is also due to the release of the new version. I had put much thought into a 10/22, Papoose or this one and in the end I opted compactness and stealthy portability over accuracy or the ability to dress my rifle up. CCI Blazers were highly touted for ammo so I'm starting with it before trying anything else.

I have an older model and had to replace the main springs but it seems to be functioning like new again.... I use it as my trapping gun. Last weekend was -20 and it dispatched 5 coyotes with no feeding problems.

I have an early 60's model, Armalite AR7 in camo (All swirly colors mixed in the plastic) with soft case, has patent pending on it, the oldies only had 1 mag. I've never had any issues with it. I'd post a pic if it was easy. As a kid these guns were the thing of legends, a gun that comes apart and all the parts fit into the stock, it even floats!

Mine is later 70's early 80's. Has one mag and it rat bagged from use. She still floats and shoots well enough for her purpose. I buffed the guts and use high velocity ammo with little to no issues.

Congrats...
