New Garand Barrels

I believe that there is enough demand in Canada to warrant importing new US-made Garand barrels in both .308 and .30-06. They are available in the US from various makers. How about it?

I need one as well for my WWII M-1 with a smooth bore (I always wondered how that happened, because the rest of the rifle is in great shape). I've been looking for a barrel for many years, but no luck so far.

:(

Would excessive use of armor piercing ammo have done that?

Thank-you Sir. I don't think the Garand barrel is a show stopper for export though. Economies of scale would make it worthwhile to secure the necessary export permission.

:sniper:Try Adams Lake Rifle Barrels at www.riflebarrels.ca. That is were I got my Krieger 308 barrel for my Garand. Bank on a 12 week delivery date and parting with about $450 including shipping. Might be more now, I got mine about a 1 1/2 years ago.

Maybe this reference should be a PM or moved to another thread someplace else. Just my opinion but recommending another dealer in a dealer specific thread might appear rude.

LMAO
Since when do manners count on CGN :D
Its not like he is a dealer posting in another dealers thread with a banner advertising his own products .
O wait that happens here all the time too :D

*sigh* and people wonder why we get what we got (pardon my grammar).

Like I said, just my opinion, just trying to inject a little civility into CGN.

No but some cheap steel jacketed ammo would. I have a few WWII vintage AP rounds and I dissected one. It consists of a copper jacket with a tiny amount of lead in the nose, a super hardened penetrator and a base cap. The penetrator is a perfect little boat-tail bullet that is housed in the copper jacket. I imagine the lead is to help center the tip inside the jacket.

I've read that they are supposed to pass through cold rolled steel upto 1" thick. Um, it's true! I shot one out of a scoped 30-06 at the 100 yard gong. Very neat to see a huge splatter on the gong and dirt fly behind it at the same time:D

Back on topic, sorry.
