RFB initial thoughts, Range report ***JANUARY 31st ammo test at bottom of OP***

Reloads are done. But I don't have time to shoot these days off. Next week for me.

Loads: .308 SMK 168 grain, CCI benchrest large rifle primer, Federal Brass, and Reloader 15.

The ladder goes from 40-45 grains of Reloader 15 in .5 increments. I also loaded up 10 at 40.7 since this has been posted as an accurate load (even though the person who posted this on the Kel-tec forum didn't provide any further information or pictures). We'll see.

Neat compact reloading table you've got there. Lineofsight needs something like that because he's running out of room. Crap...now he'll probably ask me to make him one. :bangHead: :D

(hijack in process) The only thing better than one RFB is...

and yes Fireball, your mag is bigger than mine
(but it is not how deep you fish but how you wiggle your worm).

Now that looks perfect to me. The sleeker short mags are IMHO perfect. We are limited to five presently so they make sense. The longer and heavier mags would suck while hunting. Can't shoot prone very well and hook on things. Even if we could have "normal capacity" mags, we are limited to 5 in almost every province I believe for hunting purposes. I say nice choice in using the short and actually sleeker looking mags.

You do understand that the workmate tables fold eh, or are you just looking to overcomplicate? Do have another little project in mind though - involves a receiver hitch and a flower pot for the Sierra to become carbon neutral.

Yeah, was pleasantly surprised by that too, adds value as far as I'm concerned.

Any loads for Varget or H4350 rumoured to be accurate, can get those ready.

The short mag should be great for hunting. But they are a b!tich to deal with when it comes to 3-gun and you have to change mags fast. There just isn't anything to grab onto. Especially if you have them in pouches on your vest.

I cant even count to three so not too worried about 3-gun :) Suspect its easier to buy aftermarket big mags than little mags though.

Then what was the big deal about collapsing it a while back? ;) If you only need a little table like Epoxy's then I can build something for you. I'm in construction mode now. :)

I'll be happy to weld something up for you. :)

LOL, there are several places that sell them but NONE have any left. The best you can do is get on a list. Wanstalls, reliable, etc. Email them all and find out who has the shortest list.

Fireball will probably sell you his, with the grip in the middle he hasn't figured out which end is which yet and I hear from Epoxy7 that he needs money to pay the next installment of interpretive dance classes.

Can contact vaultdistribution.com (also on CGN), as the distributor they can let you know who the dealers are - in addition to Reliable, Wanstalls, think Wolverine & P&D also sell them.

I've been trying to find a place to buy the kel tec RFB, but havent had any luck. who sells them in canada?

This is the current list of stores;

Reliable in B.C.
Wanstalls in B.C.
P&D Enterprises in A.B.
Wolverine Supplies in M.B.
LANZ Shooting Supplies in O.N.

I called each & found the shortest list with LANZ, I'm #10 on that list... 'Might' see my rifle by summer & hopefully (fingers crossed) no later than fall, ie BEFORE deer season!!!

Keep in mind that each shipment of RFB's only has 15 rifles!!! 3 per store!!! So, with shipments showing up every 5 to 6 weeks, you can see you will be waiting awhile...

Cheers
Jay
P.S. To ALL you guys out there with your RFB's PLEASE document & post your range results! Many of us are 'biting @ the bit' to know how these rifles perform!!! And, THANKS in advance!

I'm waiting for my RCBS Chargemaster to come in. I should be able to pick it up on Friday the 21st. So I might have a load ladder ready for testing on the 22nd. But don't hold your breath.

Now that you let the cat out of the bag - Seths's list at Lanz is getting longer !

However - It's still the shortest list in Kanada until a distributorship is given to a dealer across the border in French Kanada.

As far as range tests - My RFB is 2 MOA with crap ammo off an unsteady rest at below zero shaking fingers.

I tried a 36 power target scope but couldnt get the reticle still because of the pistol sized RFB in a rifle rest -

I am working on a stiff extension harnass to lengthen the contact points for bench stability and warmer weather for a reliable accuracy report with commercially available ammo -

Stay tuned --

So you're saying your reloading area won't look like a crack shack or meth lab anymore! The crack scale finally broke down I guess.

Added some accessories to my RFB.

Bottom handguard picatinny rail.

Ngyukon where did you get that bipod? How about a mini review on it? It looks great on the RFB. It looks like since the RFB is so short having the bipod legs out front might sort of make up for that.

Ngyukon...dude, you beat me to the punch! I get my RFB back tomorrow from Dlask (barrel threading) but the FSC30 I ordered won't be here until Next week...looks fantastic...thanks for posting the pic. If you get her out on the weekend please post how that compensator works for you. Now I'm chomping at the bit...

On a side note...the cheek rest I ordered has arrived...really a slick unit...but we'll see when I put it on.

I ordered mine from Wolverine Supplies. You can also ordered directly from the Accushot website. There is a good review of the bipod over at Sniper Hide.
It is very solid and weighs under 11oz. It is constructed out of aluminum with stainless steel springs and fasteners. The bipod can swivel and cant. I think one of its best features is that the legs can be adjusted 45 degrees forward or backwards independently. By having the legs 45 degrees forward, you have a very low profile shooting position. By pulling the fastener down you can adjust the height of the legs. It feels very solid when shooting and not a lot of flexing (see video on website below). Definitely better than the Harris bipod IMO but more expensive too.

Brordo, I ordered the FSC30 two weeks ago and it helped that I got the barrel threading done locally in Calgary. Or else, you would have beat me to the punch! I got to shoot it a bit today at the indoor range. It sure is loud with the compensator and you can feel the air blast against your face. Besides that, I have no complains. It is doing what it is suppose to... There is less barrel rise and I can return the sights to target faster. Let us know how the cheek rest works for you.
