What something sold for 20 years ago has nothing to do with what its worth today.
Valmets are VERY expensive rifles. They are the Rolls-Royce of AK variants. There are Valmets that sell for 7-8 thousand dollars in US. Even the most common models usually cost 3-4 times more than your typical AK.
Their unique legal status in Canada makes them even more desirable.

Almost every single thread about Valmets on these boards has some kid who never shot or even saw one in person call them a "novelty" or compare them to CZ. It used to annoy me, but then i got used to it.

You're right. Even just looking on gunbroker, valmets go for a lot more money than the el-cheapo AK variants and that's within the US. Nevermind here where they will go for more because of their unique legal status and scarcity. I've never even seen one in person but I would love to own one even if just for the reason that the government tried so hard to keep all AK's out of our hands. The CZ's are nice rifles, but they're not an AK.

denis judging by your avatar you are one of those 'tight' Valment owners, once I get a sustainable income and can justify spending 6gs on one rifle that i cant shoot that often i will join the club, a Valment is honestly the gun i want the most , and i think they will only go up in price.

Not sure what you mean by "tight". I can appreciate a high quality firearm with rich history, which Valmets certainly are. There are many like me, even on this site. Check out valmet.org/forums if you're interested - lots of nice people there. I just wish we could own other models of these rifles in Canada.

P.S. There is no "N" in "Valmet" :)
P.P.S. Im a big enthusiast of the 10mm cartridge also :D

I was referring to the comment about Valmet owners 'loosening up', are those all yours?...if so you are a lucky S.O.B or better put: a hardworking gentleman who appreciates a high quality firearm with rich history..the N was due to the bottle of hooch i have drunk combined with my lack of attention to detail
