Hi Guys,

Apologies if this particular question has been asked before.

I recently picked up a M305 with the synthetic stock, cleaned it all up, upgraded to USGI springs, SS Match grade spring guide and switched the stock flasher hider to the SA muzzle break. Everything seems to be working great so far and I'm loving it.

My question is would upgrading to the USGI stock be a significant upgrade over the synthetic stock that it came with? For Accuracy or other benefits? I realized in the past the wood stocks that came with these guns were junky but the synthetic stock (though it feels cheap) doesn't seem all that bad.

Thanks

Yes i beleive the usgi stock is an upgrade from the norc synthetic stock, the forend of the usgi stock is more rigid, the fit to the reciever is tighter, and the usgi stock usally has the proper spacing and clearances at the ferrule...swapping to the usgi stock should improve function and consistency from what i have noticed...

I believe there is one in the EE right now in the parts and bits sub-forum. If not try giving M14Doctor a PM he might have one.

Cool, useful link. I think I need to look into bedding a bit more. Not sure if I have the confidence with my rifle to attempt it yet. But I'm sure I'll talk myself into it.

Yup, what matty said ;)
Fiberglass Usgi stocks have a "milspec" fit and do not use the metal stock liner seen on the wood and plastic stocks.
BUT usgi do rquire a couple simple mods for fitting up. The info on these mods is detailed by skullboy in the stickes.
Not all usgi stocks are a tight fit and bedding would be beneficial BUT you generally get a nice drop in fit regardless.

The plastic stocks can be made to fit and function very well. A simple ferrule adjustment and correction of stock liner fit. Word is not in yet on whether or not bedding componds will bond sufficiently with these stocks.
