So I was wondering, if YOU were building a lightweight, 7.5" sweet little rifle, what chamber would you use?

I reload, so the my choice is between .223 Rem and .223 Wylde.

Well, I doubt you are going for accuracy in a 7.5, so the 5.56 is a fine choice here. The .223 wylde would be fine, too. I don't see the point of a .223 rem chamber.

.223 Wylde

He designed it specifically to improve the accuracy when using 5.56mm IVI. The fact that it's a great chamber that works well with .223 and 5.56 is a bonus. Best all around option.

Im sure youre nit an idiot, but your answer wasnt very intelligent. Those 3 were the only options, there was no "other". Since you would never build an ar15 in 556, this thread doesn't apply to you, you rich folks who can afford to play with high calibers.

Isn't it really hard to find .223 Wylde ammo?

The US military is using it right now in Afghanistan. Almost impossible to import and expensive.

I would stay with the 5.56.
It's true mil-spec stuff and will make your AR function smoother with less recoil.

Is this a joke? No such thing as .223 Wylde ammo, it's just a chamber design that will reliably feed .223 and 5.56mm. Function smoother, less recoil, WTF are you talking about?

You shouldn't put 5.56mm ammo in a .223 chamber but you can put 5.56mm in a .223 Wylde chamber. Like I mentioned already, the guy designed it to get the best possible accuracy out of 5.56mm 62gr ammo when he used to shoot service rifle competitions in Canada. Back then you had to use standard issue C77 ball ammo.

I wouldn't want to go with that short of a barrel, but either the Wylde or NATO chamber would be equally acceptable to me. SAAMI spec .223 chambers don't belong in ARs.

I wouldn't worry about the chamber... .223 Wylde if you can get it, otherwise 5.56 Nato (I wouldn't lose sleep over it).
