The reason they use the pins instead of larger shot or ball bearings, is that the pins can fit through the flash holes. The shot may not clean out the edges of the primer pocket or the inside base of the brass. I'm building a tumbler right now and hope to try out the SS media in it, may try a mix of shot and pins.

I just did my first batch in the ss tumbler and im amazed after only a hour it was cleaner then most brass in a vibrator for 4 hours (INSIDE AND OUTSIDE of case) this stuff is amazing i will never use anything else easy to do as well. well worth the investment

my first round i used dawn because thats what i had and it worked excellent i only wish i had more brass to clean now lol
