Ive been hearing for awhile now that there are 10 round mags out there for the AR that are actually legal. Doe anybody know if this is true if so where does one get them? Also if thats leagal, then couldnt we just pin a 30 round mag to 10?

It's impossibly complicated... the kind of nonsensical regulation that only a Liberal would ever create.

The LAR-15 mags are made for a Rock River Arms AR-based "pistol;" ergo, 10 rounds is a "go." That they happen to fit into a full-size AR15 is incidental.

Any other AR15 magazine must still be limited at 5, per the law. The 10-round allowance for LAR-15 mags does not lift the mag capacity restrictions for any OTHER AR-compatible mag, sadly.

You'll find them at Questar and MoreGuns Supply (and other dealers jump in if I've missed you).

So the mags are legal, but are they legal to use in the Colt AR-15 sporter that i got comming?

Yes.

They should cover this #### better in the CFSC. I find it incredable that people still question this.

Mag capacity and firearms are mutually exclusive...

Firearms don't have capacity limits... Magazines do.

Exactly.

The limit is placed on the magazine and is based on which firearm the magazine was designed for, not which firearm it is used in.

Yup, perfectly legal.

Good for you for asking, instead of spouting off at the range about how they are not legal (which I am getting sick of hearing)

I heard they were legal but i couldnt find any info on the CFC website. Guess ill have to get me some.

Here ya go... 'Scanned a minute ago.

This came out 2.5 years ago...

Pay attention to the Note: near the bottom... The last sentence.

Print a copy and carry it in your range bag if you are worried about getting busted

Everyone's using them, so don't worry 'bout it. ;)

I'm pretty sure about every AR owner has at least one LAR15 mag.

I had a few LAR15 mags but sold them because I was shooting too fast and having too much fun. Figured something was not right............

They actually covered it quite well in my courses...first thing I did when I got back from my exams was check where they sell em

And +1 on the sticky for LAR-15 mags this pops up almost every 3 weeks...
