Thinking of a stainless bolt-action in either .243 or .270. Much to choose between the Savage 16 FCSS and Remington's XCR II? Any users of either out there? Thanks!
Savage 16 FCSS or Remington 700 XCR II?

i just ordered a Savage weather warrior 16 FCSS 243 cal .and shall receive it in february ..i choose the SAVAGE i wanted the ACCUTRIGGER and the ACCUSTOCK ...i had a 22 mag. savage and realy enjoyed the accutrigger ..
One thing to consider; the 16fcss has some blued parts. The mag, bolt removal button/lever, and some trigger parts. I have one, and it irritates me that these parts aren't stainless. The Rem is all stainless, but the bolt isn't locked down when the safety is engaged.(Savage is) Savage stock is more flimsy than the Rem. My Rem is just an SPS and the stock is way better than the older Savage synthetic I have. I like Savages detachable mag better, goes in and out real nice. Chevy vs Ford.....

The new Accustock is far from flimsy!
I have had 2 Savages(11fcxp - .308 & 12BVSS - .223) and 2 Stevens 200's(.223 & .270)
All shoot sub MOA, and I haven't had any issues.
Back in Dec I had the option of any Rem rifle I wanted as a warranty replacement, and the first thing that came to mind was the Rem 700 5r, but after handling it, I was not impressed. The action was far from smooth, and I didn't like the way the stock felt. I chose the Rem R-15 which I sold and bought the 12BVSS.
I will never buy anything else. There is just no reason.

i ordered mine and should receive it soon ..but i handled the new SAVAGEwith the ACCUSTOCK at the sporting store were i ordered my 243 cal .they had no .243 cal in stock so i had to order one ..
. I'm curious to see a brand new Savage.

well i own two savage. one started its life as a 338winmag ended up being a lil 260 and it is going to stay that way next started its life as a 300winmag and is being turned into a 6.5wsm. i bought my first one new and its stock is pretty good the other one is aweful and will be replaced with a boyds lam pepper thumbhoel when i am not so broke..
basically savage is my newest freind and does everything i want it too .. i can't place my finger one what i don't like about remington.. maybe its the name or how the stock on all the guns kick me in the face. savage go with savage if you don't like something change it. it is like the tc thompson center change out parts no problem
