I am very interested in getting an LRB receiver, and I had a few questions:

What is the best method to get it into Canada, what have your experiences been?

Does it matter that it is marked 7.62mm?

Who would you reccomend to import it?

Call LRB, get on the waiting list. Wait about a year, when it's ready, buy it. Then contact questar, prophet river, or another 3rd party inporter to bring it in for you. Easy peezy.

No problems with the 7.62 marking. and here's a teaser...

LRB has the one I want right now, Prophet river is saying if its marked 7.62mm its a no go, thats the problem I am running into, and wondering if anyone else had similar situations with different results.

edit:

But thank you for the reply.

Really? I wonder if that's a new thing...
if so that's gonna make alot of people unhappy

I'd say ask him to try anyway... it's been done in the past.

That's what Prophet River told me as well. I don't want to buy a receiver and see it stuck at the border. I just need a firm answer on this before I throw my money down.

I thought this was a new thing, no NATO stamped parts leaving the USA, that why Kaltec (I think) had to grind and relabel the rifles 308 before sending them here.

From my understanding KelTec had to rechamber the RFB's to .308 in addition to removing and re laser etching the rifles.

I was commenting on CanadianAR that there was more to the KelTec thing than just renaming .308 from 7.62

Wildphil pointed out to me that the receivers are not marked 7.62x51, only 7.62, they could be 7.62x39 or 7.62x54 if they came receiver only. He said he was going to look into it further with someone. I'd just like a definitive answer.

As discussed I e-mailed FNsports to know the situation on Springfield armory M1A imports (same marking).
Double interesting for me: LRB import + SAI warranty service.

I'm waiting on their answer and will let you know.

I was at the range yeterday and saw a Poly Tec with all the heal markings ground off and new laser markings on the side of the reciever . It did not look good at all ! Allmost looked like it was done with a grinder ,And sold for full price to boot.
