I keep seeing really cheap shotgun mounts for a flashlight on ebay and other u.s site. I have seen a ncstar one too. Does an one sell them on cng? I am just looking for a cheap cheap one (under 10 bucks) so i can slap a equally cheap crappy tire flashlight on two of my shotguns.

Cheap? Probably Marstar. It just depends on if you want a weaver/picatinny style mount for a rail, or just a barrel clamp style. Check out their website and you'll probably find something that'll suit you...

You could try one of these from Deal Extreme

For a cheap mount you can use a set of scope rings, but don't expect that cheap flashlight to last, after breaking 3 flshlights on my shotgun I got a Fenix TA30 and haven't had any problems since, the Fenix TK11 is also good, if you're gona go with this one also get the rechargeable 18650 batteries.

I agree, same applies for a mount: A cheap mount is more likely to move than a good one. There is a good product made by Nordic Components, which is a barrel/magazine clamp with a short, removable rail. I don't have one, but there is someone on the site that uses that particular clamp with a QD flashlight mount. The clamp itself is about $50 US, but the only place I know that stocks it is Tactical Shotgunner, down in the states. Mesa Tactical also makes a similar barrel/magazine clamp that'll let you put either a QD sling mount or rail on either side, although I believe the clamp and single rail cost a bit more than the Nordic Components one.

I know I suggested Marstar earlier, but I'm going to make an amendment: If you can, I recommend you pony up the little bit of extra cash now and buy a decent barrel clamp. A plain-jane clamp will likely cost you in the range of about $30 after taxes and shipping, and you might have a hard time selling it later. A good one should be an easy sell, and it's less likely to move or loosen under recoil.

Having said all that, and slightly off topic: Does anyone run a Mini Maglite on their shotgun? I'm considering getting one instead of a "true" weapon light system. I think Maglite makes a pretty solid flashlight, and the ability to use a standard AA battery, as well as their new line of LED flashlights, seems to make it a viable alternative. Not to mention that you can get remote pressure-switch tail-caps for them (I think Marstar sells them).

Mesa Tactical makes a nice barrel magazine clamp with a rail, if you are going with a 1" flashlight I would recomend a FAB defence 1" light from zahal.org, its well made and it goes on and off with the push of a button, and the shipping is free.

www.tacord.com has Mesa Tactical parts.

When I was moose hunting this year, and it was dark and scary poopin in the woods at night, I had my cut down single shot with a led light hockey taped under the fore end. Didn't wiggle, turned on and off easily, and lit up where I wanted to see just fine. I think the roll of tape cost $4.29 at Canadian tire.

trust me i was thinking of just using tape but i have had my eye on the 5 dollar one from extreme deal. has anyone ordered one of these yet?

This tactical light project was done relatively cheep.

The light is a Fenix @ 210 lumens ($70) is a decent entry level light.

Its a bit cheep hence the entry level. But for the cost its OK.

I matched it up to an affordable cheep shotgun - IMO the combination works, note my thumb has easy access to the power button.

Things I dont like aBOUT MY SET UP:

The button on the Fenix has already ripped and the use on this shotty is mininal at best. Hence the Fenix is a budget flash vs. a Surefire E2d Defender(200 lumens) -$165.00 which I use on a daily bases.(Everyday Carry)

The E2d has a hi-low button and has lower profile wheras the Fenis does not.

Anyhow heres how it sits on the 12.5 shotty.

Here how it is to scale with someone holding it.

The flash mount can be placed with any picatinny rail and please stop with the red and green show duct tape thing - the flash needs to be braced properly for shotgun loads.
