What's the name of the maker in Ukraine who make the machined PU steel mount and the all steel PU scope like the scope found on sniper clone from Tradex and P.S Militaria? Beside the original russian ones, they are regarded as very high quality repro, i didnt find the maker so anyone know who's the company? Or maybe they have a web site? Thanks.

Kalinka Optics?

kalinka have the mount but no scope from ukraine, theirs scope are most likely repro from china or taiwan. That question came to my mind this afternoon, while i was looking at my sniper repro with ukrainian hardware. I know that fews makers make the mount but not ggod stuff. Some are aluminium, others appear to be steel but cast. Seem's that the only mount and scope close to original quality came from ukraine.

I found a PU scope, Ukrainian repro with mount&screws+pin in germany, would cost 300$ can shipped. Do you think is too expensive for those repro? of all the repro pu scope, i think the ukrainian are the best so far so what do you think fellows Mosin experts?

westrifle sells repro pu scopes/mounts

I know but mount are cast and scope doesnt appear blued but painted. Not even close looking like originals ones. The ukrainian repro have machined steel mount and scope are blued. i dont say that the ones from Westrifle are not good, i,m just saying that they dont have the proper look.

The scopes are made by NPZ (Russian State Optics plant in Novosibirsk) on the same machinery as the scopes were manufactured on since 1933.

Or maybe they're Chinese knockoffs. I'll let you decide...

I know who makes Ukranian ones. I even been at the factory. They look and feel the same as mine from Russia. Kalinka does not sell Ukranian ones only Russian. Ukranian made out of steel same as mine. It is same production process in Russia and Ukraine. What does it mean blued?

Blued as opposed to painted finish - like an un refurbished SKS retains it's original blued finish where a refurbished SKS may be painted...

Svt1940, Without overlooking the obvious, there's always the option to buy a real pu scope or a real pu sniper.

Yes ofc, i keep eyes open for that too, its always good to have severals options:) I must add that even if its a repro, its not a reason to not make it look like a real one with proper looking scope and stock also.

I have acquired one of the PU reproductions and thus far I am sufficiently impressed with the workmanship and quality. I have owned a M52 Hungarian PU sniper in the past and to be honest the only thing I would say differs is the finishing workmanship and the optic quality.

Well if theirs mount are machined, machining is bad looking.....They can be good but dont look very authentic.

I would bet that the origionals were cast and then machined as well. As long as the casting is heat treated it is just as strong a piece cut from a block.

I currently have one from west rifle and the optics are great. Crisp and clear. It's a solid unit as far as I'm concerned. I don't know anything about the originals and bluing - but I do know it's a great scope for my nagant.
