Heavier Bullets for K31?

RUAG surplus ammo
You will have difficulty to surpass the RUAG GP11 surplus ammo (174gr) in terms of accuracy, let alone price. I've seen repeated "dotted circle inside a 10" ( i.e. < 2 inches) at 300m (yes, not feet) with this ammo and no scope, just peep sight. This is equivalent to 2/3 MOA (minute of angle)! Maybe the shooter and the rifle (IG11) were special but the ammo was standard issue out of the box RUAG GP11, Swiss Army Surplus. I'm an experienced reloader and I've got the 7,5x55 Lee dies with crimp tool, bla bla bla, and on my first two batches (168gr HP-BT Match), I was not able to better what I can do with the RUAG ammo strait out of the box. If it's for hunting, I would go with a Hornady A-MAX in 180 gr. and start with 41 gr. of IMR-2064. Haven't tried it yet. Got my brass from Graf & Sons in the US.
Refer to one of my earlier posts where I recount this memorable shooting experience with the Toronto Swiss Rifle Club. These rifles (IG11 and K31) are awesome for the price they are presently going. Serious shooters and collectors should have one in their gun safe.

My favourite! got 600 of those in stock. Hornady manual page 439, says it all. If you're hunting, I bet you the A-max in 180gr must be mean medicine.
I've found very good article on a simple trick to de-prime the Berdan RUAG brass. Got it on a site called: Collecting and Shooting the Military Surplus Rifle (2005) - Surplusrifle.com. The PDF file is directly downloadable.
Don't throw away those precious RUAG spent cartridge! Who knows how long Graf & sons is going to continue selling the Boxer brass. Cheers.

I have been reloading for my K31 for a year now. All I shoot in it is the Sierra 175gr MK's with great results. I buy these bullets for my 308 in the 500 packs so that's why I use them out of convince.
Using 46.2gr of IMR 4350 I get 3/4 MOA groups at 340yr. I really don't know how the human eye does this with open sights as this is my first rifle without a scope.
Reloader never buy ammo so I can't compare it to GP11.
I have made a batch of 200gr MK's just for fun but never put them on paper to see how they group but they did follow the open sight increments. I was bangen gongs at 700meters with them.
I think the K31 has a 1:10 twist so it should eat the 200gr bullets if you want to go that heavy.
