Listen to Mystic

mmm, can't wait to get groups like that coming out of my Savage 12 VLP DBM, except I opted for the 1:7" twist so I get to spend more money on heavier bullets :p

Jerry's the go to guy, all we need is an updated web-site.... I've been trying to find those articles about reloading but can't seem to find them :(

Glad I have been of help on this forum and elsewhere.

Jerry

Jerry you've been a wise and trusted counselor for most of my decision making when it comes to precision shooting and a great help to get the most out of my rifle. An influence, a guide, a coach, a mentor. Any question I've had, you've answered thoroughly... and for that I thank you.

The website it going through an annual make over so it may be a little bit before I can figure out how to get the articles back up.

But it will be up. Just keep having a look every few days.

Thanks for all the kind comments...

I always find it interesting trying to narrow down the variables in an off the shelf gun. Though there are a lot, there are steps that can be made in preparation to minimize the headache in finding a load the works with the gun so good on ya for weathering through that with which ever gun you pull from your collection. I personally found, when shooting for groups that the shape of the target plays a huge role in properly being able to continuously line up your crosshairs on the exact same spot shot after shot. I've used squares on end with bright construction paper to get consistency. Also using a level when putting your target up really helps to naturally keep your gun level also. Best of luck to you all as it gets warmer out and we start spending more time shooting in comfort as appose to what some of us have been shooting in the last couple months. brrrrr

Here is a link to the target I made. It is a small jpeg file that prints on an 11x17 paper. The centre ring is slightly less than an inch when printed at that size. You can print it on a letter (8.5x11) making the ring slightly larger than .5".

Have fun.

I get 2775 (av) from 44.8 gr. varget in standard brass.

69 Gr. HPBT Sierra Matchkings.

The primers are Bench Rest CCI (better consistency in colder weather)

Reloaded on a RCBS system with Lee hardware.

do you mean 24.8 grains of Varget.
44.8 would be flowing all over the bench.
