Keep the pelt, as you can get a few bucks out of it (enough to replace your spent ammo anyway). Either leave the rest out of sight for nature to do it's thing, or burn/bury it if you want to get fancy.

Which colony is this? I am looking for someone to take these off my hands when I get them.

If there is trapper nearby he'll probably pay something for a pelt taken off properly, a bit less if it's still on the carcass, but that saves you work and disposing of the carcass. At worst, he'll give you nothing for it but maybe will be a pal and give you useful info about game in the area and friendly landowners. There's at least one Hutterite colony around here that used to pay a bit for whole dead coyotes to process and sell the pelts, so if you have any of those around it might be worth checking to see if they do, too. Otherwise, as Gunslingr said, the natural process.

Canada post use to put containers on a post at the end of a rural driveway. They worked great. Unfortunately that isn't the case any more.

So these days I skin and get the wifey to brain tan the hide an make slippers for the homeless. I like to bone or debone the carcass if you prefer. Then into the slow cooker with some cajun spices. It looks like pulled pork. I have no idea what it tastes like as I gift it at Christmas to neighbors who have pissed me off during the year, and of course inlaws.
Now if I said here's some coyote meat for you, bone appetit, they wouldn't appreciate it. So I make burritos and chili and vac pack it . put a festive ribbon on the package and voila a perfect hand made thoughtful gift for those special people in your life.

I have quit doing anything with them. In MHO the $$ you get is not worth the work. I get calls to shoot them lots & more so when calfing starts. I shoot them & leave them in the fields, they are gone soon by other cayotes & birds.

I don't think that's quite correct. I know they sell them, I think it's to a local taxidermist which then passes them on to local fur shops.

At $31-39 at the last auction, Slutkers Furs in Edm is not buying coyotes. Not all of last years coyotes have sold yet. I will not be doing any skinning,washing,scraping,sewing,stretching &brushing this year.
