Yes those Choates are a little ugly.

I think you've done a good job and if the stock is comfortable and it shoots well I personally would not give a chit.

Repeatability is what matters. I only know this cos I can't achieve it. :)

Haha I do agree that the Choates are ugly as sin but they do beat the hell out of the Savage tupperware stocks any day.
I would love to make it out to Homestead and am aiming to make it out there at one point this season. I can't wait. I'll let you guys know on the 142's. I've developed some loads, now I just need to get out and let them fly.

I'll third that one, fugly but they do work well. Are you getting out this weekend?
 
Took the rifle out today for the first time. The rifle shot well calculated with Ontarget software the groups were:

.594 MOA using the 142 gr. matchkings

and .744 MOA using the 123 gr. matchkings. I hate it when people say they "pulled" so I will just count this group as it is @ .744 MOA.

Not the greatest but I haven't neck turned, neck sized at all. These aren't fireformed cases so I imagine the groups should shrink a bit later on after a little more prep. The results are promising so far.

I also shot my sweet shooting factory Browning x-bolt varmint. 5 shots under 1/4 MOA. Unreal how well this rifle shoots the 52 gr. matchkings. Too bad it's got too slow of a twist rate to shoot the heavy boys.

Aint no mulligans in shooting......they all count.

I just read another thread where a 2" group is called a .5" group because of a "pulled" shot but to each their own.

I like to test mine over and over for consistent groups before calling it a hummer or a dud. :D

For sure! I am hoping to get this rifle to shoot like my darn factory Browning. It shows a lot of potential. Should be able to get it done soon.

I used Ontarget to calculate (measure) a little more precisely.. In my opinion, it's a more precise method of measuring group size compared to me measuring by hand with calipers.

I wonder if he thought that Ontarget was a ballistic calculator (ie drop etc) rather then a target-group-sizer-program?
