That's an idea John. I'm not sure why it cannot be done that way. It would not be a club-sanctioned event though, and the whole idea is to get it club-sanctioned to offer more to the members. At least that's my point of view.

To be fair, I'm pretty new to the club and shooting sports in general. I just wanted to try something else besides IPSC, and when I checked, noticed that it did not exist in poco, hence my poll.

I think most disciplines get started with a few shooters getting together and making it happen. Even the events happening currently at your range are there because of a core group making it happen - club-sanctioning is a misnomer in that the 'club' does not put events on - members do.

If you are able to get shooters together for IDPA on a regular basis it will be what it is. An IDPA chapter.

If you want info on making IDPA happen contact Canuck 44 - he is the IDPA Canada head honcho. He will fill you in.

John

Thanks for your suggestions John! Yeah, I can't figure out the "NO"s either.

Then again, we live in a democratic world where everyone's free to choose eh.:D

The "Nos" may find Chilliwack closer to them or they are simply not interested in having IDPA in Poco for whatever reason. They may not even be POCO members.

Perhaps the poll can be re-phrased to solicit responses only from current or potential POCO members.

The 1hr drive to shoot a match, any match is well worth it.

Not in my book. If POCO can hold IDPA matches, I can be at the match in 15 minutes. In fact, I joined POCO precisely because it is close to my home. Driving to me is a waste of time, unless I drive a Ferrari and there are no speed limits.

I really can't figure out why there seems to be extreme resistance to let IDPA into POCO.

It is time us POCO members stood up and re-claimed the club for more members, not just a select few.

Does POCO have a tiered membership structure? Last I heard annual dues are $140 for everyone.

We all pay the same dues, why can't we share the facilities equally?

I'd appreciate support from non-members too.

It too bad you all don't want to drive here the Chilliwack as you missed the match we had today :D

Good times

As a matter of fact, I know of 5 members that shoot here on a regular basis that live in the Vancouver area

Nice to hear you had a good time. I probably know some of those 5 shooters you are referring to.

I left my country to live in Canada because I couldn't stand the corrupt government and the way they were taking the country down with them. I am not driving longer than I have to.

When we finally have IDPA at POCO, you're welcome to drive over:D

'wack for IDPA, Abby for IPSC -- come join in!!

We had a blast today, I was 'accused' my gun went full auto -- gotta watch my trigger finger, I guess... lol...

Yeah, thanks for the offer Katana...but you gotta ask yourself why we don't have IDPA at Poco when we have 7 ranges to play with. why should any poco member need to go to 'Wack or Abbie for anything.

$230 Where.

i know of 200 bucks, which also includes your IPSC membership, covered range, targets, tape , range rental, and Black badge material.

for some of the best fun with a pistol, 200 bucks is Penny's.

At Poco it is 230 bucks. I know IDPA/IPSC is a lot of fun but why does IDPA not charge that kind of money?

I think all you need to get idpa going is to approach the directors and schedule a time that is free on range #1, or the trap and skeet area. Not sure if all players will need the RUC course or not.

You shouldn't but right now there isn't so Chilliwack is the only option for now.

As a mattert of fact, I voted yes to the poll as I think IDPA in Poco would be very popular and would only increase popularity with IDPA as a whole. When it happens in Poco, I will come there to shoot along side of my fellow shooters do out here from the city:D

Petition

With the support of Canuck44, the IDPA affiliation proposal has been formally presented to the POCO Board for the past two years. Each time, there seems to be resistance of one sort or another. Thankfully, some members of the Poco board are allowing me to make another presentation for the EC meeting on March 8th.
If all those POCO members can spread the word and PM me your names, I will start a petition to present at that time. Its been a long road and lets hope we can reach the destination in 2011.
Will keep all posted on developements.
In the meantime, some of us Poco members continue to support IDPA out of the Chilliwack Club. As Katana infers, propogating additional activities for any club benefits all members.
