I sounds like he died doing what he loved and that is a Great Testiment to the man. There is a plaque on a tree where I hunt where a fellow died doing what he loved a few years back. He was hunting deer an sitting in his favourite spot when he had a massive Heart attack.

I have to think everytime I pass it that he died enjoying what he loved doing and his fellow hunters and friends paid homage to him by eecting the plaque.

RIP Larry

I'm not sure if I ever crossed paths in person with Larry at a Canadian Open, but I know he participated in a lot of Zone 8 Championships. RIP Larry. My condolences to his friends and family.

Brad.

Larry Shand Passing

Larry was an old friend whom I have not seen in a few years---some years ago we shot considerable skeet together with Larry usually out in front---on my wall hangs a 'ruffie head on a plaque made by Larry as skeet prizes---my condolences to Larry's family and friends. RIP Larry Bent Barrel AKA Gord Ludlow

I always looked forward to shooting with Larry each year at the Alberta skeet shoots. We shared lots of laughs and great memories together during the short time that I got to know him. I liked his positive attitude, sportsmanship on the skeet field and hearing him talk about his trapline. I am very thankful to have gotten to know Larry. RIP

Larry Shand Passing

Like Shooterdustin, I also enjoyed shooting with Larry at the Alberta shoots for the past four years. Although he was a very accomplished shooter, particularly with the 20 gauge, he always had the patience and the required sense of humour to help a rookie like me at those shoots. Whether I had chokes so filled with plastic build-up that they should have been called Full instead of Skeet or I had some sort of a mental issue on station high five, Larry was always there to provide help and good advice. He also taught me a great deal regarding the administration of a shoot. Larry has been a very important influence on me becoming involved in Skeet.

Larry was liked and respected by everyone who knew him. Both on and off the skeet field Larry was recognized as a true sportsman. I consider myself very lucky to have briefly called him my friend. My condolences to his family.

I have only had the pleasure of shooting with Larry once, at the Alberta provincials many years ago, but he impressed me not only as a skeet shooter, but as a person as well. I was a green shooter, at the provincials for the first time, but Larry took the time to offer encouragement, and some pointers.RIP Larry.
