No complaints from me with this one that arrived 2 work days after ordering. It was packed well and was the one I asked for. All in all two thumbs up for seller!

Uh oh, the star on that receiver is struck a little weakly - could be a fake. Better send it to me for verification, I'll have my estate ship it back right after I die, promise!

Beauty rifle!

Would have been nice if they could have matched the font when restamping the stock before shipping. Other than that it looks like the rest of em! Mine did not have a restamp on the refurb stock. How is the bore?

whats tat? BC drizzle ? :D

i love a spike on a russian and blade on a chinese.

congrats . good price too.

Yeah I know what you mean. All in all its a nice refurb '49. My first, so I'd say I'm happy. Firing pin and bolt are really different. All parts look unused. Nice bayo. Feels heavy. The bore was shiney but dirty. Put a lot of rags through it to come out kind of clean. Lots of scrubbing on the chamber too.The rifling looks strong so I'm sure its just crud from sitting around( not chromed IIRC). Its been sand blasted(or something) so a good cleaning is essential to get rid of the grit. Lots of cosmo on all the parts but the fit and finish is fantastic (short of the BBQ paint!), with tight fits, no wobble or rattle of any sort. Best sks yet in my pile Id say. Cheers

The stock has been stamped recently with imitation 1949 markings. All the 49's I've seen in the Westrifle are this way. Likely the Russians felt they would sell better like this.

I have never seen so poor stamped soviet rifles. It looks like somebody put that stars and arrows with chisel. Definitely they are not from Tula or Izevsk.
Yup!
Especially the star on the stock. It's NOT a genuine Tula star.
And numerals on stocks are always aligned, no like these. A shoddy stamping job like this one would send his author in Siberia.
It smells of a fake.
PP.

Nope they are from Tula. You need to take a wander over to www.yooperj.com

I do not know where those SKSs came from, but their stamps and year marks are not real Tula plant stamps. It is 100% fake.
Somebody tried increased a "collectable value" of those rifles, but did not have a real stamp and did this work awkwardly with chisel and kitchen knife :)
Stalin's inspectors would execute any gunsmith for this kind of work.

P.S. Did you see any other soviet firearm with so ugly stamps like that?

I don't know about that. I have a '50 Tula from Tradex and a '51 Tula from Westrifle and the markings look the same.

By your logic, Tradex is dealing in fakes as well.

I've had 6 Russian SKS's and none of them had such lousy stampings.

Especially if that was supposed to be a rifle from the first year of manufacture.

Something smells rotten to me.

Edit: Hmmm, then again, the stampings on the 1949 at yooperj.com looks pretty rough to me too (page 27.)

By my logic, somebody in Russia or Ukraine refurbished those rifles (not long ago) and put the "handmaid" marks on stocks and receiver covers, that is it.
