Yep. Not quite sure why some people here seem to defend them.....

i honestly can't believe that hunters on cgn are actually suggesting that poachers should have received lower fines
If someone shoots a deer and gets it to their truck before affixing the tag to the animal, they are basically home free and can take the animal home without tagging it. Then they'll still have a tag and will be able to shoot another deer without the risk of getting busted. The law says that you must attach the tag once you get to the animal and it's really that simple. Waiting until you start transporting the animal from the kill site would be good enough for me though. As for ontario deer tags getting ripped off during transport...nice excuse
The fines in this case should be doubled as there was 3 guys and not one of them had enough sense to attach a tag while transporting deer beside a very well traveled road.
Hopefully the next thread about poachers being fined is about the guys i reported last month with unbelievable details. The poachers didn't have a clue that i was a mere 30 yards away for the entire thing. But, i can't give too many details on here though, i'm 99% sure one of them is a member on a forum i visit and don't want hi to get spooked...:kickinthenuts:
I like our system in Manitoba much better;
When a big game kill is made, the hunter must immediately cut
out the month and date of kill on the game tag. If the hunter
maintains actual possession of the animal, affixing the cut out
game tag may be delayed until the animal has been taken to
a means of transportation. Immediately upon reaching such
transportation, the cut out tag must be securely attached to the
big game animal.
I like BCs system just notch your tag on the page with your tag for what ever you shot and stick your license back in your pocket. Nothing to attach to the animal.
No one forgets to tag anything unless they are poaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No one forgets to tag anything unless they are poaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You wait for it in the mail,carry it around with you,shoot a deer and not put it on MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
poaching!!!
Old or not if they hunt Ontario they are doing it wrong and can be charged!!!I would guess and you can ask some one older than me,in Ontario there has been a tag system for 25 yrs if not longer(old folks chime in)is it to hard for the old people to figure out????Why would you risk you gun, vehicle,fines for something as simple as putting on a tag immediately at the kill site????Unless you are poaching!!!

I never said they souldn't have been charged. Just thought it was a bit steep. If it wansn't a first offence, or they where known by CO's I see it differently. Like I said there is more to the story, and i tend not to hang people without the whole story.
