Outside of the Velmet, what other Red rifles are rarely seen here, despite so many having been made in mass in the Soviet Union?

An accurate SKS.....!!!!!! BAAHAHAHAAHAHA

(Come to think of it, I've never seen a 'Velmet' either.....If you were referring to the "VALMET", it's made in Finland.)

In all seriousness: the elusive Dragunov/SVD family and/or it's variants.

ak variants are not that rare consider it's prohib status .i do see them often on the market and not for a very high price. i guess the demand is low since only small number of our population has the required license to own them.

M76(prohib) / M78 (non restricted) rare enough? my friend has a M78 and first time i saw it i was like how the hell could you own an AK type receiver without a prohib license then he told me its even a non restricted .

I'd say the demand is even smaller yet because of the small population of people with the necessary license, even fewer of them would spend money to buy a gun they can't legally shoot.

Other than the SKS, VZ58 and SVT-40, any red rifle would be rare around here.

The Medved 3 in 7.62x54R is about as close as you'll ever see to a Dragunov around here that's not a clone off a CZ 858 or SVT-40. Any you won't see many of the Medved's at 3500 a piece.

On a separate note... if Valmet's are availible non-restricted, then why don't you see one in every farmers broom closet? I hear so many peoples wishing they could have one but none are being imported.

Although I try not to think to hard when it comes to Canadian firearm laws, or even worse the slack jawed, bobble headed na-na's we have for Customs enforcement, I have to admit being a bit confused on this one if they are legal?

They are 100 % legal. They didn't go prohib status, only because the natives used them for hunting.
You don't want natives to cry do you?
Why don't you see them around more often? It's probly because, Valmet doesn't exsist anymore, and they are pricey...that's why.
