Well I had some time today and looked at my new 2 round mag and looked at my PROMAG AK mag and thought what is they had a baby?? Hahahaha :D Well not exactly what I was thinking but what the hell!!! Anyways, I took the bottom plate, spring, follower out of the AK mag and the 597 mag was a tight fit. So I dremelled out the top edges for a nice long 1 inch taper taking about half the material out. I then squeezed the mag into the shell. The rectangular base of the VTR mag sat too high so I took a little more material out so it would countersink in. Well after 40 minutes total this is what I have!!

Now a really nice side effect is the empty mag is heavier so when you push the mag release the mag easily falls out. This is going to make mag changes more efficient. Of course i have not made this permanent yet but I want to tack this in place and make sure the extra weight does not tilt the mag and cause feed issues. Also I want to make sure the tight fit does not cause a distortion in the shape of the VTR mag. Yes i will be coating it black and this is just my first mod. Feedback and ideas are welcomed.

I just got back from Dallas.....Don't have to limit them to cross the border if you cut the feed lips off them. It is permanently disabled so no import issue. They are cheap too, I paid 12 buck each, now to test fire it and paint her black.

Going out tomorrow for the test adn I also got my MOE rear stock and tube from Blazsun while i was in Saskatoon. It is all installed and ready to run. I will also be breaking in my SR-22 that showed up. Hmmm Exciting night tomorrow.

Well even though the mag is not fully adhered to the inside of the new donor AK mag surround it functioned just fine. over 100 rounds with only 1 FTF which I blame on the cheap bulk federal ammo. Well now its time to secure it and paint it to fit the rest of my gun.
