When breaking down an AR Platform into upper lower what would the ratio value be between the upper and lower from same maufacturer?

An example would be Stag arms 2R gov't 16 inch.

If it costs $1500 new complete, what is the upper and lower worth each separately?

Thanks in advance.:canadaFlag:

I'd say the upper is worth twice what the lower is on a lower priced AR.

On a high end AR you can spend thousands on a quality upper. The barrel, bolt carrier group, front stock can all be premium quality components.

So Grizzly the ratio on the intermediate AR listed at 1500 new would be approimately upper 1000 new complete

lower 500 new complete

total 1500

Roughly. Take a look at Questars site in the sponsor vendors above. It's not uncommon to see new lowers for $500 and up. Uppers seem to cost $1000 and up. The cheap lowers are basically made up of a $300 lower receiver, $100 parts kit and $100 stock. Roughly.

Wouldn't it be more like:

-$200 lower reciever
-$100 parts kit
-$100 stock
-$100 in assembly/labour fees

Sure, or even $179 lower, $75 parts kit, $75 stock and the rest for profit and assembly. The prices of these components vary significantly. Assembled though, they seem to sell for what, $450 and up at the cheapest???

I think he's just looking for a ballpark on ratio of value of lower to upper.

Lowers are generally all within a few bucks of each other. A stripped lower with a cheap LPK ($90ish) and a Tapco complete stock and buffer assembly ($80) are all you need to get started.

As a basic rifle set goes, 60%ish of the cost will be in the upper. For an 'out of the box' gun, anyhow.

But, for instance one of my AR's:

Lower
- Stag stripped ($190)
- Giselle SSA ($200)
- LMT SOPMOD w/ buffer tube ($210)
- XH HeavyBuffer w/ Wolff XP spring ($165)
- Odd bits ($30)

Total - $795.

Upper
- Stripped Upper ($170)
- Stag BCG ($175)
- S&J 11.5" bbl w/ gas block and tube ($250)
- Troy Ind. MRF-10" ($210)
- Troy Ind. Front/Rear Sights ($200)
- Gasbuster Mod 3 ($100)

Total - $1105

The cost is about 75/25. It really depends on how you build it up.
