Hey all , just wondering if anyone can help answer a question? Ive really been enjoying CGN, its so nice that some people have taken there own time to finely tune a site that is so helpful and just a pleasure to be a part of, thank you. My question is... Ive recently purchased a Remington 700 in 300 weatherby magnum, topped off with a Leupold VX2 and was wondering if this scope is tough enough to be used on this? Any help would be great..thanks

Rivergoat, I have my Grandfather Remington Model 700 in 300 Win Mag made in 1982 with the original Leopold VX11 3x9x40, with Millet B/R set that he put on the rifle in the late 80's as his eyes were having a hard time keeping to his one shot kills out to 300 yards, this man could shoot! I inherited the rifle 7 years ago on his death and hunted Moose since then every year and Deer, and not one problem! I think this is a good testament, to yours and mine rifles set up!
PS my grandfather walked threw the worst forested area's here in Thunder bay, and the rifle is bruised but is like an Lee-Enfield to me, you can take it out in any inviroment and it take a liking and keeps on ticking!Dale Z in T-Bay!

Any drops or bumps that you will accidentally give the scope in the field are much worse than the recoil of the rifle, they are built and tested to withstand it.The possible weak link will be the rings and base if not correctly installed. Other than that I see so possible issues.

I had a VX II 3-9 on two 416's and a 375 and a 300 and more I can't remember. It's on a buddies 7 mag now. Still going strong.

I had a VXII mounted on a 458 mag........my fillings rattled loose long before that scope ever did !

Like suggested make sure your mounts and rings are up to the task and you'll have no probs with that combo.
