Vortex Diamondback 1.75-5x32 on Ruger SR-22?

I'm not very experienced with optics but I've read that people are having good results with using shotgun scopes on rimfires due to parallax setting and the 22lr effective range. Does that make sense? I'm looking at general range plinking up to 100 meters and also like the idea of a variable scope. Do you think the Diamondback 1.75-5x32 would be a good choice for my Ruger SR-22? I know Bushnell sells a similar variable scope but only up to 4x magnification and it's a bit longer in length. I have a Vortex SPARC and am very satisfied with the quality and performance so the Diamondback line seems appealing.

I put a 3x9x40 diamondback on my 223 so far so good and pleased with clarity adjustment etc. If I was you I'd go for it.
 
Sounds like a good combination except i think its parallax free at 100yds? I prefer paralax free at 40yds due to the short range usually small targets shot with a .22LR. If you ever viewed a small target at 20 yds with centerfire scope and saw the horrilbe parallax you would know what i mean. They have a 2-7X35 rimfire scope set at 50 yds maybe would be better. The eye relief is closer on the rimfire as well which is desirable considering no recoil.:wave:

I'm also now considering a Trophy XLT 1.75-4x32 shotgun scope for my SR-22. Parallax (50yrds) is suitable for 22 from what I've read. That Diamondback 2-7x35 would be nice though with the extra magnification. My SR-22 has a 12" Dlask barrel...should that be a consideration as well when considering the scope and magnification?
 
Hey I just saw that the Vortec Crossfire line also has a 2-7x32 rimfire scope? It's $129 compared to the $219 Diamondback version. Anyone know the big difference between the 2? Diamondback worth the extra moolah?

Doesn't matter with Vortex. You get a problem with there product simpley find a local dealer and get a replacement.
Also Mambo are you plaining on going up to the range this weekend if so PM me and I will let you run a torture test on there cheapy Crossfire and we will see how good they are ;)

Oh I'm aware of Vortex' great warranty - I had an issue with my SPARC and it was replaced right away. Yay Vortex!

Aside from where they're both manufactured, I'm assuming it's the quality of glass that dictates the price diff? Really my main use is plinking so perhaps the Crossfire is the way to go. The cheaper price tag is nice.

So I ended up ordering a Vortex Crossfire 2-7x32 rimfire scope from Grouse River. Can't wait to get it! Funny thing is I ordered an ADM AD-Recon mount for it from TSE which costs more than the scope, haha. I was gonna go with Warne Maxima QD High rings but I think the ADM mount is the way to go. Eh, I'll pay for the convenience and cool. I'll let ya know how it works out! Thanks for all the advice.

I got the ADM AD-Recon 1" mount from TSE in Calgary. That Vortex ADR mount is 30mm only. I almost ordered it though by mistake. My Crossfire is 1" tube diameter.

That ADR looks so similar to the ADM though in general...I wonder if ADM makes them for Vortex?
