Semi Auto 7.62 X 39 RPD Rifle could it be legal here as a non-restricted gun?

:nest:

Im guessing it would be classified as a variant.

The RPD is not a named prohib, so the variant situation would not apply.
It would be classified after inspection. Seeing as ATF accepted the DSArms gun as semi auto, the mechanism should be acceptable here.
Is DSArms registered with US DOS for export of their products? Would US DOS issue an export permit?
The RCMP do not accept the RPD belt as pre '45, so 5 round segments would be required.

Oh man does someone need to bring these in if we are allowed. i would buy one in a heartbeat. where is johnone when you need him. if anyone would be able to he/marstar would be able to!

Hmmm...
I would ask johnone what is up with the VZ 59 before thinking about these.

I don't understand the fascination with light machine guns civi side in this country. The awesome 5 round magazine/belt instantly kills any and all appeal for me.
But people spend hundreds-thousands of dollars on semi-auto versions of suppresive/AREA weapons never designed for tight accuracy with 5 cartridge capacity limits :S
I guess it could get you some "cool" pictures for the facebook or something lol
Maybe I just haven't been a gun enthusiast long enough....

We were once warriors, and now we turn to Andy and Barney to ask "permission" to have things our grandfathers would see as commonplace.

You don't have to understand it, just accept it. :D

Definitely a looker ;) lol

If I would spend the large sum of money and be able to actually obtain and fire one the way it was designed I'd probably go with a C6 (FN MAG) :D

This one cost me $650 to build and another $100 for the tripod/periscope

p.s. I am in the U.S.

I would love to build the Czech 59 one of these days !!
