when does a gun become a sniper rifle?

A gun becomes a sniper rifle when it gets listed on the EE.

But only if it has had the high value adding Tactical Bolt knob put on and is Krylon painted flat black.

Not only does this make an off the shelf factory rifle now a "Sniper Rifle" it also doubles the value of said rifle.

With the original poster listing their location as Ilderton, ON, shooting as far as you can see will have you shooting across 4 other farms and a concession road to your target. This area is all small farms and houses in rural southern Ontario. Not really long range territory.

Before we burn the poor bastard at the stake, perhaps we could remember we were all newbies once. He's waiting for his PAL. Maybe someone in the area could take him shooting?

I feel that we should never call any of our guns "sniper rifles". Hunting rifles, target/competition rifles, or collectors/air-looms... that's all I would say. The anti's use the word "sniper rifle" to make our guns sound evil.

He's got one post and nowhere does it say he's waiting for his PAL....

My guess is is that he's a Call Of Duty nerd who wants a "Tacticool" rifle.

"Call of Duty nerds" might be the best chance we have of a future in this hobby, I wouldn't be too quick to dissuade them. I don't care what influences people to take up shooting as a hobby just as long as the sport keeps growing.

I think video games can be a good foray into becoming familiar with firearms. When introduced to firearms and taught proper safety techniques the "Call of Duty nerds" quickly realize the difference between real life and a video game, but the interest in firearms as a hobby will usually still remain.

They need to get out of their moms basement first in order to enjoy the hobby.

As far as I can tell there are 2 requirements to make such a gun illegal. You must refer to the Liberal media to get a proper idea of exactly what they are. The following videos will give you an idea of what I mean.

1) It has to shoot exploding heat seeking bullets that can take down 747's.

2) It must have a shoulder thing that goes up.

Hilarious and scary at the same time, and these are the people in power????

While maybe not really riffles, the addition of a tactical bolt knob is critical as already mentioned, wasn't too sure about the Krylon paint, isn't there something less expensive?

Anything that shoots a projectile, from a paintball gun to a .20mm anti material rifle (and everything in between) can be considered a sniper's weapon when you hand it to a sniper and give him an objective. It's the mindset and constant training that makes snipers what they are; their rifles are just another tool that they use.

:agree:

Thats what first came to my mind. Its a sniper rifle when used by a sniper in the situations that they operate.

A rifle becomes a sniper rifle only when it is ordained as such by the sniper who uses it for that purpose. However, the "sniper rifle" is really just a rifle. For example: When does a bomb become a suicide bomb? When does a Ferrari become a race car? What differentiates a car from a "get-away-car"? How about a person and a sniper or a woman and a whore? A rifle is a rifle, a car is a car, a bomb is a bomb a person is a person and a woman is a woman. An adjective is just an adjective.

Hey.......When does a rifle become a super evil woman and baby-killer? When a Liberal sees it!

I just bought one of these babies:

Milsig SRT Sniper Desert Ops Custom:

I am able to utilize three different barrel setups, I can easily switch from a Precision rifle, battle rifle, or Commando style CQB setup. (more scary adjectives - LOL!)

But don't worry, it's just a paintball gun - it won't harm anyone, neither will the adjectives!
