Simple.........I am not the sort of creature that would be elected by those areas that are self centred (hence my problems with the voting system as you may recall.

Where did I say the position was wrong? I just pointed out the position (as he mentioned at the Pan Am Shotgun match on ATSN lives video.

Now you may in fact suggest that mentioning the fact indicates it is wrong but that would only be the case if it was inherently wrong..........which must then be the case I guess.

Can you post the sections of IPSC Canada's Constitution and By-laws that give the President/Board of Directors the mandate to wage ideological warfare against totalitarian, dictatorship states? I can't find them.

How do you define "Dictatorship?" Does it include true Monarchies (not Constitutional Monarchies), and one-party states? Principalities? Duchies? Or just the six-odd actual countries that are true dictatorships?

Under what IPSC Canada by-law would you prevent an otherwise accredited competitor from a "dictatorship state" from competing? Would it apply to defectors, expatriates, landed citizens and those with diplomatic immunity?

On what grounds would you defend IPSC Canada against a criminal charge of Racism or Hate filed by a banned foreign national competitor? What if it was a civil suit or a Human Rights Tribunal case?

And finally, if competitors from Dictatorships are banned, how will they ever travel outside their country and be exposed to democratic ideology?
 
The discussion is really centered around this:
1. Practical competition is open to all reputable persons without regard to
occupation. It may specifically not be limited to public servants.
It is the first principle in the rules, well it used to be, it still is in the US. It was intended that IPSC could not be limited to only LEO or the military and must be a civilian sport. PPC when it started was "police only." Back when I started it was the general thought that any country that did not allow civilian ownership and competition would not be allowed into the confederation. The politics of the country did not matter, only their allowance of civilian ownership of firearms.

You tell yourself whatever you want (you can't run becoz you'd lose due to the corrupt system). I understand. I know I don't have what it takes to be IPSC President but there's no shame admitting we all have our limitations just like Mr. Eastwood said.

I wonder if Mr. Slavex can tell us the occupation of the guy who shot for China at the last world shoot? I heard he was a civilian. If true then this thread is another petty "Brantford" case.

Going off on a tangent, the assumption, I believe, is that Canada is a democracy. In my opinion it is not; MPs must vote the party line or be tossed out of their party, so that the will of the majority of his/her constituents is ignored. Why? Because of the gravy train/indexed pension they come into after five years in parliament. Yes, we have the best politicians money can buy! If MPs were allowed to vote according to their constituents wishes the recent vote to get rid of the long gun registry would have passed!



I voted to limit IPSC membership to 'free' countries so by my defintion Canada just squeaks by.

That is my argument in a nutshell...
IPSC seems to be abandoning its basic principles at an astounding rate.
That is disconcerting.

Oh I agree 100% I do not have what it takes........not in the least.

The difference between you and I is I say it with PRIDE!

I am PROUD that I lack what it takes to be President of IPSC. I take it as a badge of integrity.
The trick I woudl suggest is the two of us differ as to what exactly it takes.
 
IDPA is run by dictatorship.... the parent countries have no say in who gets elected to be area coordinator, seems likethe first guy that throws his hat inthe arena gets the prize.

His name was Hui Jiang and yes he was a civilian at the time, his english was good and he was acompanied by a fellow asian competitor at the opening ceromonies as he was one man, still not sure how that makes this a petty thread :confused:

You keep telling yourself whatever makes you feel good, but you're only fooling yourself.

Mr. Alexakos once told us he didn't like the way the previous President ran IPSC, but at least he had the courage of his convictions to stand up and be counted, instead of cowering behind feeble excuses and self-awarded badges of honor. He made his case and he got elected.

It's time you quit bashing Vinny, bashing Alexakos and bashing just about everything else in IPSC. Stick to what you can handle, like running little gun clubs, as you seem to be successful at that level. They need Presidents too, but only Minor PF.
