I have a Chinese SKS rife with a detachable magazine. Wanting a 30 shot banana magazine for 7.62x39mm rounds. I believe they have a pin through it to be legal.

Yes it's an SKS-D model so I think the AK-47 mag. should work. But hard to find a banana clip? Makes the gun look so much better! Thanks.

This is a common mistake, but i see your new here, Its allright.. Im going to say this as this kinda gets people going...
clip_magazine.jpg

also no fruit not involved...

check the EE 69mustang, there was a dealer in Prince George B.C. selling 5/30 rd. steel AK mags for $50 each. They are way easier to manipulate than the 5 rd. shorty mags. mckutzy, I think that should be lesson #1 for all pal/rpal courses!

Everyone calm down.

These are the real banana clips.

No SKS should be without at least 2. The even come in TACTICAL BLACK, COMMIE RED, etc. So many options!

hey, does the mag cutout on your stock have a plastic liner or is it bare wood that looks like it was rasped out?

When I taken my license test,(I challenged) I had talked to the instructor and when he does his classes, although in the books there is no reference to this, he had made a big sign saying that statement and also said u will fail if u mention fruit/clip/magazine in the same sentence at any point in time in his house. For him these terms was his pet-peve's, and he wanted to correct and educate people on this.

From wiki,
Magazine is the name for an item or place within which ammunition is stored. It is taken from the Arabic word "makahazin" meaning "warehouse".
So if any of you accept the fact that the meaning of 'magazine' has changed over the years then I suggest you realize the same thing about clip. I doubt any gun is made today that uses them and it will soon be the new word, I even heard it used on 24. I wouldn't complain about 'banana' either all you pear shaped people with big apple butts.

ya no, a magazine has always been a magazine and will stay that way. a clip holds the rims of the cartridges, a box magazine contains the ammunition entirely. calling one the other is like calling an SKS an assault rifle. might be cool with the kids but not with the serious enthusiasts, especially mil/leo. And Mckutzy that is just great!

Magazines are where the ammunition is stored. Clips are still used every day and tons of guns still use them. Clips are used to load a magazines for every major army in the world RIGHT THIS SECOND.

Oh wait, they used the word clip on 24, it must be right. TV shows never get gun terminology wrong.

No I'm not looking to sell my SKS rifle, it's a joy to shoot! The gun has a plastic surrounding inside the wood where the magazine clips into.
