Norma 203-B and/or Vihtavuori N-135

Does anybody know if there is ANY supplier in Canada where one can order Norma or Vihtavuori powders? Especially either of the two mentioned above? It seems these powders are a rare find in Canada - yet popular and easy to get elswhere.

Peter Dobson at Hirsch Precision can get you VV powder. Don't know who sells Norma, but I wouldn't use it either. Do you have your 6BR now?? I think the VV N135 is a good powder for the 65-75 grain bullets, as well as Varget.

I tak eit you don't like NOrma 203-B powder for the 6mmBR Norma? What am I missing here? :confused:

I don't think Norma is a big player in the 6BR game, even though their name is on the cartridge. Have not heard of anyone using 203-B, but I'm sure it is used.

In the heavier bullets, I think Varget is the most popular choice. I found Varget even in the 68 grain bullets to be more accurate than H322 which is somewhat faster and very popular in the 6PPC's.

I recall you went for an 8 twist, and will likely be shooting the heavy bullets. Varget can do that. In the VV line I would suggest N140 might be a good choice. It is about the same speed as 203-B, and a bit slower than Varget. Varget has the advantage of being temperature insensitive, while 203-B is quite temperature sensitive. VV powder is also sensitive, but perhaps not as much as the Norma.

I plan to give N135 a try with the 68 grain bullets that seem to shoot the best for me.

I find this powder burn rate chart from Vihtavuori to be helpful in sorting out what to use. And I'm sure you've looked at it but the cartridge guide from 6BR is also quite helpful.

I see Lapua lists N140 with their 105 Scenar bullet as the heavy bullet accuracy load in the Lapua Reloading Guide, so probably not a bad choice.
