cheap shotgun ammo?

The winchester or federal 100rd sleeves are good clays ammo for the price, look for 71/2 or 8 shot. Most trap ranges state 7 1/2 is the largest you can use. ATA rules definately state it, but you would not be shooting registered targets with that gun anyhow.

A good target/practice load will be

2 3/4 inch
2 3/4-3 1/4 dram equivelant
1 1/8 oz 7.5 or 8 shot
1145-1200 fps velocity

The winchester and federal sleeves fit in that description. Have Fun and wear hearing protection!!!

perfect thanks for that information, it sounds like the 100 count value box description at crappy tire from what i remember.

also the long barrels ive come across only list them as accepting 2 3/4 inch, what exactly make a barrel only accept that and another accept 2 3/4 and 3 inch?

Chamber length. Old barrels usually cant except longer shells.

Dont spend too much on a new barrel. You can buy a brand new Remington or Mossberg shotgun with a 28" barrel with interchangeable chokes for around $300

that makes alot more sense than spending 200 on a barrel to fit my needs. thanks for the help

Where do you guys get your buck shot and slugs? I've been to site sponsors pages and to a few stores in person, always sold out! Is there a waiting list for this stuff?

canadian tire around me has cheap bird shot, 100 count for like 29 bucks. other than that its the same price as everywhere else. slugs are around a buck a piece. id buy a large quantity of them if i could get them cheap enough. walmart carrys ammo too.

SFRC has 00 buck shot and others that you can pre-order, I just ordered 250 rounds at about a buck a shot delivered. It's Sellier and Bellot 2 3/4 reduced recoil.

You can buy a box of target loads (25 shells) for around $7-8 pretty easily at most places. Even cheap slugs are going to be close to $1 a shot though, as far as I know.
I make slugs for about 0.35 (all incl.) each. They cost $1.35 each at my local store (tax in).

Buy a lee load all and start reloading.

For Buckshot I'm using 12 pellets 00 Buck and 31 grains of blue dot with a Win209 primer and Clay buster WAA12R knockoffs (pedals cut off).

For slugs, I'm using win WAA12SL wads, 44 grains bluedot Win209 Primers and home cast Lee drive key slugs (from wheel weights).

Both are in Winchester AA hulls.

It seems intimidating at first. Start up costs are kinda rough, but once you start pumping shells out, you'll see that you make your money back VERY VERY fast if you shoot a lot of buck and slugs.

Shooting birdshot puts me to sleep, so I'm always looking for inventive targets to obliterate with my buckshot and slugs.

Nothing does the job like a shotgun.

wanna make and sell me a whole wack of slugs? ill pay you for your time of course :D
Haha... I would, but I'd be concerned about the liability issues.

Just buy the gear from http://www.reloaders.ca and get yourself set up! It's actually tunred into a fun and rewarding hobby in and of itself. I'm going to experiment with different shot materials (NAILS! JOKE!) and powder charges next. Fun times man. Try it out!

im thinking about it. i gotta see what i get next for a rifle to see about reloading. i wouldnt mind reloading 9mm ammo for my m&p9, slugs would be great but id also like to do a rifle cartridge. so im gonna wait and see if my deal will at some point pan out for that r700 im working on with a friend :D
