sorting pistol brass

Anyone else sort there pistol brass by headstamp? I never did befor , but for some annoying reason I started too , I still cant figer out why I do it but I find myself sorting my 9mm brass by headstamp .............. am I the only one out there :confused:
 
I sort my brass by headstamp also. Brass from different manufacturers are not all the same; what load may function well through my pistol in opne type of brass may not always function in another type.
 
i sort my brass by caliber...

i then tumble and sort out the crimped primers and berdan brass while i am reloading

i only shoot out to 25m with pistol, and i am happy with 2" groups at that distance
 
Alot of times I will sort after reloading, some of the lesser quality goes for practice and the better quality goes for matches. A hour with my dillon and 10 tubes full of primers and I can have a 1000 45acp reloaded. Then have a sore arm for 3 days!! Aint life grand.
 
Is there any point in sorting by case length? I find that my cases for 9mm before sizing are anywhere from .738 to .754. and since 9mm headspaces from the case mouth can that much difference cause problems? what would be acceptable?
 
Yes, OCD I guess. Winchester, Starline, Hornady, Remmington, Federal, Speer, etc. , they all get their own seperate conatiner or freezer bag.

The only benefit I see is at the indoor range, if someone is shooting the same caliber as me, I look at what they are shooting for a manufacturer, then I shoot something different. That way we know whos brass is whos when we're picking it up.

I get maybe 300-400 an hour with the 550B - and I'm happy with that (2-3 hours or one evening, and I'm ready for the month)

Yep, like Golf... (were you playing a Speer 9? no? must be someone else's :)

I just stopped sorting a month ago, and still going through cold sweats :)
 
I used to do it, now just tossing brass that is causing too much trouble reloading it (like ECCO brand or so) and inspecting for splits and such, better to find damaged brass before you load it:

When I shot at an indoor range and was more OCD, I put my ammo in the plastic boxes I would run a blue marker accross the bottom of my ammo then any brass with the blue line was mine. That way NO SORTING REQUIRED, LOL!!!
