Cabin fever has set in 100%.

In an effort to make the most ugly ghetto 10/22 magazine, I offer this modification. My original idea of glueing 2 10/22 magazines together was kaiboshed based on the fact that the magpul would never fit over the protruding Ruger magazine.

Criteria:
* Make a 10/22 magazine that could be handled while using the Arch Angel / AR style platform.
* Magazine must be shorter than the pistol grip/foregrip.
* Use an OEM Ruger 10/22 magazine for performance and reliability
* A system that could be carried in a mag pouch.

Materials:
1 Canadian tire black plastic hockey stick.
JB Weld
3 OEM Ruger 10/22 Mags
3 Magpul 9mm subgun pulls (purchased through blaxsun - awesome dealer BTW)

Process:
Cut plastic hockey stick in square lengths of 2" using miter or chop saw. Clean up ends with sandpaper. Fit the end of the hockey stick to the base of the Ruger mag. I needed to trim the edge of the plastic of the stick to fit into the square hole on the mag. But once it was fitted, it was a good, snug fit. Slather with JB Weld and clamp in place so the magazine is centred and square:

Once dry (overnight in my case) you can slide the rubber on! The Magpul subgun pull may be loose, I applied a couple dabs of JBW and clamped it for a few hours. There are two tabs at the base of the magpul that I trimmed off with a sharp blade.

Sand or scrape off any extra JBW, and I sanded off the mags for any factory roughness.

The finished result:

Did a big walk this morning, the magazine was recessed enough to not get hooked on stuff, but just long enough to make transitioning mags very easy with gloves on. I have a VQ extended mag release, which makes dropping mags with this system quite easy.

Let the fun begin.

Those look nice on that setup. You could also try Ramline 10/22 mags, they are shorter then the Butler Creek ones and they still have a 30rnd capacity. The Ruger mags I think are the best also, they just empty to fast.

Im always so impressed with ingenuity of people in CGN, and aesthically, the craftmanship always looks top notch - well done!

Update

So I've been using these mags with great success for the last couple weeks.

One edit that I'll add to the mod: The JB Weld does not stick to the rubber of the magpul. So continuing with the hockey theme, I wrapped the "stick" portion with some black sticky hockey tape, then slid the magpul over this. This adds a bit of thickness to the grip as well, making for a better grip.

No failures, ejects fast, and makes for one handed mag changes.

;)
