Im wondering if there are any lever actions chambered in .45-70 that have a straight (as opposed to pistol grip) stock - I just prefer them and might be in the market for one someday.

Having one with the straight stock and after shooting some of the hotter loads, especially with heavy bullets, I'd rather have the pistol grip design, as on my 444S. A little easier on the fingers.

The first couple of years of the re-released Marlin 1895 came with 22" barrels and straight grips. They're nowhere near as common as the pistol gripped 1895's, but aren't impossible to find either. Alternatively, an easy conversion is to buy a new PG'd 1895 and trade the trigger plate and lever with a Guide Gun owner who wants to go to a pistol grip.

Here's my Marlin 1895 GS in 45-70, straight grip walnut stock. It even came complete with a feeding problem from new! :( Easily fixed under warranty, and I have grown to really like it. Surprizingly accurate with standard sights. I wouldn't hesitate to face a Grizzly bear with this sucker!
