slick shooting rifles. the Dutch used them in Asia with corosive ammo .then sold them off as scrap . Cranston arms if I remember refurbed them here in Canada and sold them to collectors in the US.

Wolverine Supplies had one for about $3000 a little while ago. I believe it was basically unmolested. Saw one last April at the Dugald Gun Show going for about $3250.

One which I had at one time.

Get a Garand!

I have seen a whole bunch of these over the years and can honestly say I have never seen one that looked even in remotely reasonable condition?

Where they all ridden hard and put away wet?

Didn't the U.S. Marines use them in the early part of the Pacific actions?

Yes, they did a trial with it in Pacific Combat against the Japanese and the Marines liked it better than the Garand.

Unfortunately for Government Red Tape, Bureaucrats, and Favortism.

It's all in the the book by Bruce Canfield about The Johnson Rifle and SMG.
The rifle was way ahead of it's time.

If you go to my post "what is a 41 Johson worth?" posted on 12-14-2009 you will see a few pictures of the Johnson that I have access to .
It has acquired a rear sight since the pictures were taken so will be able to shoot it as soon as this damn snow dissapears .

The original post by AJSP has a picture showing two different 1941 Johnsons. The nicer looking one seems to have a replacement forend, as the wood just forward the bolt handle is straight while the other, as well as the pic in the post by MK VII, shows a cutout in the wood. This is in the top of the forend rearmost next to the bolt handle when the bolt is closed. Does anyone know what goes there and what it is for?
