Should probably do one of these since I've been posting a bit and lurking for a month or so.

A buddy persuaded me to join him for the CSFC and CRFSC in December and I joined on a whim only realize how little I knew about firearms (still managing to ace the safety course, how does that work? =P). Previous to taking the course I'd only ever shot a pistol once (another friend's CZ-75).

I applied for and got my RPAL and started visiting the range weekly with a third friend who shoots, trying a variety of firearms. Just Saturday I bought my first, a Ruger MkIII and I'm anxiously awaiting the phone call from the store with the reference number so I can get the thing home and get my ATTs sorted out.

Anyway, look forward to chatting more with you all.

Thanks. For me it was a practicality concern originally. I live in the city and seldom get out to the country. I also don't drive as per my post on cycling. Transporting a pistol is strangely less hassle in spite of the excessive legislation.

Now that I'm better read on the political climate surrounding firearms in Canada I can definitely agree with the decision to get both non-restricted and restricted licenses to up the numbers as well. =)

Welcome. We have some really fine shooting establishments in and around YYC. Hit them hard.

I've biked to the range a time or two myself. Some rifles come apart to fit in a regular backpack quite nicely as well BTW.

Been joining my buddy at the Edge where I'm now an Associate Member, and I have a pre-purchased membership for the Calgary Shooting Centre. I'll consider some outdoor stuff and a rifle once the weather clears up. Good to know I'm not the only one. =)
