Mossberg Tactical .22

The store I work at (Belleville Canadian Tire) has the rifles for $289.99...no extra mags yet, however, I asked the guys at the counter, and they said 25 rounders will be available soon - North Sylva will start shipping within the next 3 weeks or so. Although the gun is quite light and somewhat cheap looking, it seems to be a decent gun. Customers that bought one have reported back that they were happy with them, so...I think I will pick one up. :)

Waitin' for those 25rdr mags
Meanwhile I've put some Magpul adds onto the front end

Timberlord,
Looking good! What is the flash hider? A screw on or a bolt on and where did you get it? I like!!!!
I got word last night that 25 rounders should be available by the end of February. If you can believe it it was a packaging problem that has been holding them up. The US government wouldn't allow them to be exported in the original packages, what a joke!

looking at picking one of these up, as a fun gun. But I haven'y spoken to anyone that has one yet.
I have a Ruger SR22 and its great, but tthe price is right and I like the look.

Does anyone know how the shoot, or feel.
Any info would be great...

$350??hmmmm that would be nice

I got mine with the adjustable stock from Chilliwack dart and tackle for $279. Great little plinker. it takes the same mags as the 702 plinkster, but there are supposed to be some 25 round mags coming to Canada soon if they arnt already here. will be getting one of those for sure as they make the rifle look much nicer.

tms7457,
Please don't take this wrong but there are 326 posts before yours in this thread alone covering everybody's opinion of these guns. I think your question has been fairly well d:h:

Soooo....I did buy one...overall, it was what I expected. It is very light and plasticky. I stripped it down, and I must admit...taking the "AR Cover" off is not difficult, but it sure looks cheap when all the parts are sitting there. The action itself is actually OK, and the only issue I had stripping it down was I hammered out the barrel pins instead of the trigger pins. It was pretty gritty in the action, but once I cleaned it up, it seemed quite a bit smoother. Reassembly was fine (except I forgot to put the buffer in, so I had to strip it down after I was done).

Anyway, once I (FINALLY) had it back together, I loaded up the mag and headed out. I was using Remington Golden Bullet Bulk packs, and I'll be damned, the gun worked like a champ. No misfires, no FTE's...double tapped well, cycled well, mag release improved dramatically after cleaning it and working it a few times. Holds open on the last round...I was actually quite surprised at how well it worked. Overall, I would give it a C+ on fit and finish, but would give it an A+ on function.

After reading through most of the 34 pages on this post, as well as searching other posts, I couldn't find a real reason why the Mossberg Tactical 22 is non-restricted, as is the Remington 597 which has the 16" barrel, but the Smith & Wesson M&P .22 with the 16" barrel is classified as restricted? Did anyone find the reason for this, and what is to stop them from re-classifying the Mossberg as restricted? At the end of it all, they are all just .22 rimfire rifles with some extra plastic.

i may be mistaken but i think the Smith & Wesson M&P .22 is restricted because the 25 or is it 30 rnd mag can be used in their handgun

Hey I have spoken to a rep from ISSC regarding their MK22, and they advised that the gun is in canada but it has to be sent to the gov't for testing and figuring out if it is going to be restricted or non-restricted. We should most likey know by mid summer what classification they have given them.
Good looking gun and hopefully it wont be restricted.

The S&W is not a plastic cover like the mossberg and uses some AR parts I believe and that is why it is restricted. The 25 round magazines have to be pinned to 10 rounds as they fit the handgun version, they are not the reason it is restricted. Stupidity at it's best anyway you look at it.

all i know and hope for is the mossberg dosnt end up a restricted like the m&p 15 .22lr or the colt umax .22lr i enjoy my 597vtr but it has some issues im not fond of like jamming no feed and missfires but for 375$ i wont complaine its still one of my favorites

They are restricted by looking like a variant. This has been beaten to death over the last couple years guys. THe RCMP have no business deciding something look dangerous, if that were true then people with serious violent mental issues and body builders would be illegal as well. They both scare the hell outta me!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
