#4M1 Bayonet ( Speer ? )

I've got a bayonet ( looks more like a speer ) for a #4M1.It has what looks to be an S or maybe a 5 inside a square stamped on it as well ?.
Was wondering what it's worth ?

Manufactured by Savage Arms in the USA. With the scabbard I certainly wouldn't pay more than 10.00. Without scabbard even less.

"...looks to be an S or maybe a 5 inside..." Hi. It's an 'S'. Like 37patt says, it's a standard 'spike' bayonet made by Savage. Savage made stuff has more demand, Stateside.
Marstar wants $5.95 for a spike with no scabbard. $10.95 with a scabbard. Condition, of course, is everything.

However, if it is a fluted spike, the price goes UP. Got mine in a junk shop many years ago. they wanted $5 for it. Them days are gone forever!

The first no4mk1 bayonets had grooves running down the blade. The mk2 version omitted the grooves. If yours looks like a tapered screwdriver, it is the common one. Not sure that Savage built the mk1 version.

I believe the Mk I variants were only made by Singer in the U.K. - around 10,000 total? They definitely don't have the big squared off "S" marked on them either.
