I'm wondering if there's any truth to (what I read on here!) that these scopes should NOT be mounted in rings with the synthetic style bushings, ie I guess they are referring to Burris signature rings. So I'm wondering if anyone has had a problem with this set up. This is on a low recoiling 243A weighing approx 16lbs with the scope, the scope is the BR model in 12-42X55.

The flexing really doesn't matter too much as long as everything returns to exactly the same place for each shot.
As for the plastic bushings, The Burris siggies are a pretty popular ring, I'd think if there was any sort of slipage problem, even on .50 cal rifles, we'd have read the reports.

I've mounted NF 12-42NXS in Burris Z rings to adjust MOA requirements. Had absolutely
no problems with the inserts. However, the way in which these rings mount to the picatinny is poor at best. The cross bolts are small and easily stripped. The "purchase" power on the rail is questionable and rings seem flimsy by comparison.
I have replaced Burris Z's with superior rings after having MOA requirements done on rails.
Lots of great rings available and YES they will cost you more than Burris Z's ,but if you're mounting a high end scope ,I wouldn't think I would question investing a few more dollars on rings.
I have TPS,Badger,Leupold,Armalite,Desert Tactical and most recently a new idea in stress free mounting by American Rifle.

I have just aquired a set of these but have yet to mount the scope and range test.

That won't be a problem. I had to take burris insert rings off a 338 lapua though, first shot and they slid 1/8". I was using 3 sets not the regular two and grip to the rail was fine. 3 sets of TPS rings solved that issue.

Could you send me a pic (or post) of that set up with the TPS rings? Thanks.

I have a set of Burris with inserts on my Hunting rifle with 30mm Leupold scope 2.5 to 10x. 3006 I used my Torque screw driver set at 22" LBS for rings on all 8 cap screws and like Gord mentioned the very poor cross bolt just a cheep system compared to other rings I have used. Used this set up for two years with no negative results on a rather modest load in my 3006 2630 fps 165gr Accubonds. Changed powders and found a very accurate load with RL 17 same bullets at 2830fps. Fired a 3 shot group at 300y 1" was quite pleased. gave gun to my friend to shoot at a buck last fall he got 3 standing shots at buck off good rest on ATV at 320y all three shots he missed, checked gun next day at 300y off bags and front rest gun was shooting 11" low I then noticed where scope had slid ahead about 3/4". you will see these rings on EE boards very soon

Ring snob... ;)

I use Burris Zee rings on my .223 without issue. I also use TPS rings on my .308, and ADM mounts on all my rigs with top rails. :)

It's one of those things..I know what heights work well and don't venture out buying anything else. I also have never had one ring mark or scope move with them..swapping scopes from gun to gun..4 shots and I am shooting under 1/2" groups..

That is true - my TPS rings leave no marks! The only odd this is that a low is like everyone elses medium.

True about the height..my 1"- 50mm scopes are low.. 30mm-56mm are medium..pretty simple for me. They also come in Weaver and Picatinny slots depending on the rail you are using..

I've got Nightforce (a set on my 308 and a set on my 300 WM - both with NXS scopes) and TPS (on my SAN with the Leupold Mark 4). The Old Man has the Burris rings with the inserts on his Savage Model 10 Predator and they seem just fine but the whole system seems a bit hinky to me. Then throw in guys that are using the offset inserts to effect a "Poor-Man's-Tapered Base" and the skepticism creeps up further.

Mystic Precision recommended I use the Burris for my savage 10ba in 308. So I just bought them from him. Hopefully there are no issues..
