Savage 116/16 in FCSS and FHSS...w/ accustock models.. info pls

Looking at saving my pennies for a Savage 16 Weather Warrior..in FCSS or FHSS... in .270wsm ....... have no preference to detach mag or a hinged floorplate. Would like to hear from owners of these models of thier likes/dislikes/scope mount options/etc. Feel free to post pics of your rigs. thx for your time.

I have an older 16 fcss with accutrigger. My complaint is the blued mag, bolt release lever, and trigger on my SS rifle. Haven't used it yet(bought it off the EE) so no useful info for you otherwise.

I just got a Savage 116 FCSS in 30.06 , accustock , accutrigger Bushnell 3200 elite 3x9 , detachable mag. I took it out today for the first time and was very impressed with the smooth operation of the bolt and the accuracy as well .
It was my first time using an accutrigger,I have only dry fired it up till now
The accutrigger is a nice feature..I really like it.
The mag goes in smoothly if the back is tilted in first and then the front , and I didnt find any problems with my bolt release ,what didnt you like about yours stove pipe ?
I could only fire a few shots out of it today but so far I am very pleased with it .

I have a 16FCSS in 300 WSM pre accustock. Very accurate, the accutrigger takes a little getting used to but after a while you'll wonder how you ever got along without one before. As mentioned the magazine has to be inserted from the rear first if not it won't clip completely into place and will cause jamming. I'd love to get another if they chambered them in 300Wby.

My bolt release is up on the side of the receiver. It works fine, I'm just complaining that it's blued, as are the sides of the mag(not bottom). IMO if the rifle is SS I don't want blued parts on it. I really like how the mag goes in too(really slick).

I have the Savage 116FHSAK with accustock, accutrigger, free floating barrel and muzzle brake in 300 win mag and I love it, the only thing, I wish I would have got was an heavy barrel (just because), this gun is accurate, I've shot a three round half inch group at 200 yards a few times (USING A REST), with the soft recoil pad and the muzzle brake open on this gun in 300 win mag you can shoot it all day long and your shoulder will think your shooting a 223 or something (not so much as an ache), oh did I say I love this gun. In a smaller caliber like the 270 wsm your laughing, spend a little more and get the 116FHSAK with the muzzle brake your shoulder will thank you and less recoil means better accuracy. Oh did I mention I love this gun.

IMO the accutrigger is the best factory trigger out there, bar none (well bar none in any rifle that's less than $2500 anyways). Mine are all extremely crisp, and break like glass. I absolutely love the triggers. 3 way safety's are nice as well. Personally I prefer DBMs, but that's totally a whatever you prefer thing. As for scope mounting on my Savages, I only use Talley's (and I only buy short action Savages for that matter, as the actions are considerably longer than is common) and have found they work really well, without any ring extensions which you need with some types.

I honestly can't say enough about the rifles...yes they lack some of the beauty of some rifles, but if it's a tool, and not a display piece for you, you will be very happy with it.
