Finnish Mosin Populations in Canada

Finns only. And this is just my personal opinion.

EDIT: I am also limiting it to rifles I know to be in Canada. Obviously there are some rifles, like original Finn sniper rifles or 1944 Tula hex reeciver M44's with SA stamps on them, etc. that are rarer but there just aren't ANY verified examples in Canada.

Ah ok, I see what your saying. Im more of a Russian/Soviet Mosin guy myself.

I have never seen a Finn captured M44 in Canada, but I did see a M38 once. I twice had the chance to buy a Russian 1907 cavalry carbine in the USA, before September 9/11 naturally but I could not justify to myself paying the high price being asked. Prices for Finn M28, M28/30, M27, M39 rifles had fallen quite a bit in the last year in the USA, because of their bad economy.

I am personally still kicking myself over a few rare pieces I have passed over too.:eek:

How rare are the M27's in Canada? I have a 1933 M27 with the guide wings still on the bolt, milled off arshin markings on the rear sight, and Tikka barrel.

Not your everyday Mosin thats for sure. As for rarity in Canada number wise Im not sure.

Actually, of the M28, M28/30 and M39 rifles I think the M27 is the one I see most often in Canada and they are usually in better condition than most of the others.

What are the rarest Russian pieces here that youve seen? - or is that another thread :p I have only seen ONE with the early flat rear sight leaf here in Canada.

Rarest I have seen and handled have been the Finn M39 snipers with the Warner/Swasey type box like sniper scopes.

One thing I really like about my M27 is that it shoots .308 diameter bullets very well. The next thing I like about it is that I paid $60 for it.

I'm assuming this was NOT in Canada?

In Canada the rarest I have seen that is Russian is a 91/38 Carbine as I only know of ONE here in Canada.

Of course, there is some debate whether it is a cazech model or not... ;)

I've also seen exactly TWO Spanish refurbs or original unlatered dragoons.

The snipers were in the USA, owned by the late and great Finnbear.

There are at least two, I sold one to a fellow from Montreal about 10 years ago.
