Hey guys, I searched the forum for anyone having a similar problem to this- but came up with nothing.

I've taken my Russian '54 SKS out shooting a handful of times now, and it consistently shoots high. At about 100 yards (maybe farther), with the rear sight flat, Its shooting about 6-8 feet up from where i'm aiming on the hill.

It is shooting consistently straight, just too high. The rifle is 100% clean.

Any ideas?

Hopefully its not because i'm just a terrible shot

The front sight is threaded and can be moved up and down to adjust elevation. There is a little tool you can buy for it. Google "sks front sight tool" or check out some of the supporting dealers, shouldn't be hard to find one.

Well if he shoot high, you need to unscrew the front post a bit to lower the impact. To save you trouble, sight it at 25 meters then after try it at 100 meters.

If you have the rear sight adjusted back as far as possible, as in sitting on the block, your rifle is on its battle setting, which is 300 yds. Adjust her to 100 yds and try again.Other than that, its basically practise which will solve your problem. Remember, if you want the fall of shot to be lower, raise the front sight, and vice versa. Only move the post in small increments and always test the adjustment with 3 or 4 rds. Good luck. Cheers.

I would also bet on rear sight on battle setting.

If not, the front sight adjusting tool is about $7.

or free...

Mine was doing the same thing, Rear sight was set for 100, it was shooting way high. about two turns up on the front sight was what it took.

cheers.
