great site! Great service.

does any body have one of these?
i am wondering what type of real world fps they can produce.

I have a Discovery. I love it! I shoot Crosman Premiers (7.9 gr) at 960 - 980 FPS through my Chrony. It absolutely loves JSB 8.4 grain pellets also, the make tiny clover leafs at 25 Metres all day long. ... don't know the fps.

I get about 30 quality shots without point of aim issues or power issues. My gun likes to go from 2000 psi to 1000 psi.

Any other questions? Email if you want.

are you shooting 177 or 22?
do your shots drop off with each shot,or do they fall of rapidly below a certain pressure?

what kind of quality do you get for 500 bucks?

stock/metal finish?
pump?

are there any accessories you would consider necessary ?

Those pellet weights are .177". Beware of the pumps. There is little/no support from the manufacturer for proper replacement kits.

I have one in .22 caliber, with about 1000 rounds through it so far. Sorry, no chrony. The stock is comfortable, but otherwise unimpressive, a poorly finished piece of nondescript hardwood. Metal finish is also only fair. The plastic trigger is heavy but fairly crisp. Accuracy is good and continues to improve. Most types of pellets shoot into an inch at 50 yards, and the better ones (usually heavier ones) approach half that size. As stated above, about 30 shots per charge gets you down from 2000 to 1000psi, with little difference in performance. The initial pump-up to 2000psi is a pain, but subsequent top-ups back to 2000 (from 1000) are fairly simple. The pump itself works well and seems to exhibit superior fit, finish, and workmanship to the gun itself. Pellet loading, especially with a scope mounted, is a bit awkward and finicky.

Overall, for the money, I'm fairly satisfied, but not in love with this gun. I like the PCP concept and firing behaviour, and will probably stick with this gun rather than upgrading simply because of the low operating pressure which allows me to handpump it rather than requiring a compressor or scuba tank of a higher-pressure gun.

Madmac, I am a .177 fan in the pellet department. So my Disco is .177. The shots do not drop off with each shot. They fall rapidly after 1000 psi. The non drop is attained by the amount of force the hammer uses to open the valve. It is opened less when there is 2000 psi pushing back and opened more as the pressure drops. This is what keeps the fps fairly constant.

I would say the quality is better than you would expect from Crosman. It isn't perfect. The wood WAS a non descript piece of hardwood that looked like it had been dipped into a barrel of stain. I sanded and refinished mine and it is a very nice piece of Walnut that I applied several coats of gloss finish to and it is better than most guns.

The metal finish (blueing) it typical Crosman. Not deep blue like you'd see on a Browning firearm... The metal to wood finish is ok. Remember in the pcp world this is at least 1/2 to 1/3 the price of any other pcp.

The pump worked fine for about a year. It finally died and I replaced it with a SCUBA tank. That is one accessory that I would highly recommmend. I love that thing. There is loads of info on repairing the pump. I have ordered a $10 O-ring kit from a guy on the yellow forum and that should fix the pump. It takes about 60 pumps to go from 1000 psi to 2000 psi. That is 2 pumps per shot as I get 30 good quality shots.

The trigger on my gun is very good, but it took a bit of work. I have done a lot of research on http://www.network54.com/Forum/581291/ and other forums to get the scoop on modifications for this gun.

Loading the pellets isn't an issue with me with the scope attached but I have become accustomed to it. I can see how it can be a pain in the nads for some people.

Over all I would HIGHLY recommend this gun I know several people that own one and they think the same as me about it.

I hope that this helps,

Chris

I was over at a friends in NY state and he has a Marauder in .22,6x24x50 scope,bi-pod,sling...man can that thing reach out and touch stuff...like 75-100 yrds. I think he laughs at us up here...i know i do !

Take a hard look at the cz 200 series. Excellent rifles and buy a hill pump. They are well supported by the manufacterer

I take that back. I bought a hill pump and two months later still doesn't work and no replacement, selling the cz 200 which I have not been able to fire and tossing the pump as support is purely the pits, $350 pill, could have been worse. Will never buy another pcp or take a free one.
