What are Original WW2 Russian PU Nagant Snipers selling for now?

well just speculating on the going rates of milsurps they'll probably start going for around $1500 in the near future. You know, they don't make them anymore.

Yeah but that one was a tad bit over priced. They go for less at gunshows. $1500 would be a reasonable price for buyer and seller.
I think too, i found 1900 on the high side but was still nice rifle. I stick on my repro now but i wouldnt mind getting an authentic sniper. I also have the idea of a repro sniper svt 40 but i dont know yet if its worth the expense since the svt sniper are not really on the accurate side, at least its what mosts peoples say......

Condition is everything. Can't give you a real price, without seeing lots of pics.

One sure way to tell if it's original is if it has a serial number into the side of the barrel, on a horizontal line to the receiver, just beside the chamber. That's why I wonder about many of the receivers that are on the repros. Are the receivers repros as well? I have an original, that looks like it was dragged to hell and back The scope is original as are the base and mount. They were replaced with original though excellent parts. They look different from the repro stuff. The same but subtle differences. Especially in the scope. Mind you, the rifle is Russian and the scope, base, mounts, look to be Hungarian. I don't know enough about them to tell.

I have a couple of the "EX Sniper" rifles that were reconverted during FTR to standard infantry rifles. None of them have the serial number on the left side of the chamber area. The Soviets, converted thousands of rifles to sniper versions and later, back again to standard infantry rifles. All of the "real" Soviet sniper rifles that I've seen, have the serial number on the left side of the barrel though, as long as they are still in sniper configuration. No serial number, it is either a repro or a standard rifle that was converted back to a sniper.

Not true in regards to all sniper rifles having the serial number on the side of the barrel. This practice was only ever done at the Izhevsk arsenal. Tula sniper rifles have the "SN" (in cyrillic) indicating a sniper rifle. In regards to the recievers on the repro snipers - they are indeed legit soviet receivers. I have never heard of or seen a reproduction receiver. The rifles were simply 91/30s that they attached a scope package and bent bolt too. It would make no sense to make a fake receiver when they have a surplus of complete rifles.

It was an izhevsk & it didn't have the number stamped on the side of the barrel. .

If anyone is actually looking for one, I know a guy with a real Mosin PU sniper for sale for $1500.
I examined it and it is real. It has the number on the left side, the scope is real. Nice shape as I recall, although I didn't inspect the barrel bore.

I've seen it a couple of times at gun shows. I have his number.

BTW, the earliest Izhevsk snipers didn't have the number, they started in 42 or 43 I think I read.

Well, pu production started in 42 so it would make sense they started then. I know some izh snipers were not marked but it make me very wary when they are not. There were some other irregularities but i don't remember what they were.

I have read this aswell. I have never seen a real PE or PEM in person though so I have no idea. I heard 1942, I cant remember where though

Here's some pics of my PU, 1944 dated. Been through a war or two, but we fired 10 rounds out of her at 200 yards a couple years back and it was a sweet shooter. Rifle is mismatched, but the sling/action cover and scope cover have on her for a long time.
In comparison, I have fired the new reproductions as well, and have been quite impressed with them, especially for the money. Trigger pull is noticeably different on the original PU compared to the reproductions, it seems. Thanks for looking:)

My obervation re Russian snipers- the people who are Mosin enthusiasts are so because they are reasonably priced, like $200 for a pretty nice rifle.

The pool of Mosin enthusiasts who will pay $1500 for a real sniper...is pretty shallow.
