This is unquestionably a serious fail. Not Mum's fault entirely as she probably didn't expect the lowlifes to misbehave, but this unfortunate incident could have easily been avoided.

However, the OP was not looking for judgement, but was merely informing all CGNners of the existence of stolen guns out there, that they were worth something to him due to sentimental value and that there was a reward for their recovery.

So in case I spot these pieces in the Vancouver BC area, I will certainly contact the OP. No reward needed.
 
My only concern is that the OP hasn't contacted the police about the issue. Man, I don't know I keep my guns locked up but that has more to do with young kids then anything else still no so sure about just leaving them laying around near druggies.
 
This thread has me shaking my head in disappointment. OP put forward an incident that happened to his mother. He was reaching out to his fellow CGNs for assistance. Yet there appears to some who are gathering kindling in preparation of burning the man at the stake.
I did not join CGN to be lectured to or berated. I trust many other members would concur. There are 2 other firearms sites that I am a member of, and I have yet to see this antagonistic behavior there. As a community with shared interests it should be easy to feel a common bond.
OP, if I hear anything regarding your missing firearms, I will contact you.

1) I know a fair bit about S&W's, and I don't understand that description (except for the serial number and caliber). Might want to be a bit more clear in your description, and we'll all keep an eye out.

2) Even thieves have relatives.

3) Apparently, not in PQ though, as our LE friend from there points out. Seems to me they have to be safely stored unless being used. "Mom" WAS using them, she had brought them out to ensure that they were clean, tidy, and waiting for her son to come by. Sadly, her relatives dropped by first. So, if you aren't here to help, (and considering how much help you've been), please give your guns to the SQ, have them destroyed, and go join Wendy and her cohorts. Your views are just as damaging to the rest of us as hers are. - dan
 
I totally agree, Dan. There are people like 762 in every regime. They go above and beyond what the law demands in the hopes they'll be spared when the sound of goosesteps starts resonating through the streets. (Clearly that was an overly dramatic image but I think it's still valid)

Have to agree, there a select few big mouths that make this place intolerable sometimes, i cringe sometimes when i see how they attack fellow gun owners.
 
For those wishing to accuse me of lacking common sense or worse, I live in Edmonton and was in my home when all this silliness transpired. My mother lives 500km away.

Imagine an 80 year old woman that really knows absolutely nothing about firearms. My father is now in a home. The firearms were his. Elderly mother digs everything out and sets them on the table with the intention of getting the serial numbers for my sake, to assist in completing the legal transfer before I drive 500 km. At that moment, the doorbell rings, and through the window she can see her granddaughter and nephew on the doorstep. She left the guns on the table to let them in. Guns disappeared during the visit and neither on fessed up.

Cops said that unless one of them admits to it or is later caught in possession, nothing will likely happen.

Now, the next clown that wants to accuse me of wrong doing, please come to my door so I can plug ya in the lookers.

I sure hope when you say you are in law enforcement that does not mean that you are a police officer. I hate to think that you are let loose on the populace of Quebec with such keen investigative skills as you have displayed here.
To all the other members here who have to read my #####ing please accept my apologies for my harsh words but for christ sakes a member comes here for help and support and all some people want to do is hang him out dry. I just don't get it!

I'll say it again to the OP sorry to hear about this ordeal. Stuff like that can split a family, and some might say with good reason.

Thanks to the rest of you out there. I appreciate those of you that chimed in and went to bat for me. Cheers all!

I know the initial post was a shot in the dark, but I have seen good things happen because of forums just like CGN.

As for the questions about the S&W, that's all the info I have on that piece. I was a soldier and police officer but know nothing about S&W products and just took the info on make and model from the Registry and the Investigating Officer. Being a 455, I am guessing it's old. The little I know is that my father's uncle carried it on his hip during WW2, as I have the pics. Before that his father had carried it as a Police Officer in the early 1900s. My father had the rest of the history on it, but his mind is gone and the stories are too mixed up to decipher.
