Ultra sonic cleaners

I have a commercial model in my shop - not what I primarily purchased it for, but I use it all the times for cleaning guns. Just don't put wood stocks or parts in....

I can de-cosmo an SKS in under 2 minutes

cost me about 20k USD, built in California

smaller consumer grade units work, but they will take longer to clean the item and you need to be more selective of cleaning agents

look on ebay. i got mine there for $130 to my door. Does an AMAZING job on my AR bolts...the carbon practically shoots off it. slides are the same story...great piece of kit.

definitely recommend

I have a small table top ultra sonic cleaner that I use for brass and a larger one I use for gun cleaning. The small one is a Eumax UD 100SH-3L and the large one is a Crest F-1436HT, but the cost of this unit puts it beyond the scope of what an individual would typically be looking for.

Does anyone use if for cleaning there brass? and has anyone tried just using water insted of the soultion

The best brass cleaning solution I've tried is a 50-50 mix of vinegar and water with a drop or two of liquid dish soap added. A bath in a baking soda bath following the cleaning is necessary to prevent damage to the brass.

Don't waste your time with a ultrasonic cleaner for brass preparation. Been there, done that, sold it. Went back to my old corncob media tumbler until I discovered the ss media tumbler.

They are great for cleaning 858 parts We had one in the lab at university and I would always bring parts in to clean(also, free solvents :p) the black stuff comes right off.

Stainless media is the way to go, I have tried everything and nothing gets them as clean as the stainless. Yes the cost is higher to get started, but you get what you pay for. Glenn

These pictures are before and after using an ultrasonic bath for 10-15 minutes using the same solution as Boomer mentioned above other than I just rinse when finished, no baking soda. These were done quick just to take some pictures and show how it works.

If you are not getting your brass clean with an ultrasonic cleaner you are not doing it right.
