I need to find out what was stamped on the receiver on your 14" barrel Norinco HP9 (or HP9-1 someone refer to a 14" barrel model).

According to my research 14" barrel one should identify as HP9-1 while the 18" barrel should called HP9 and 18" barrel has 5 rounds mag capacity while the 14" model can hold 4 rounds only.

My question is doe sit actually stamped HP9-1 on the 14" barrel model or just HP9?

Thanks

The HP9-1 is also known as the "780" or "homeland security model." They are 2 different shotguns at 2 different price points.

The HP9 is a clone of the Remington 870 with the vast majority of parts being interchangeable. The 780 is not.

...that's the simple answer.

thats a copy and paste from the other post you linked. and from doing the reading that i have on here that seems to be the general school of thought around these parts :)

Sorry no, that information is incorrect HP9-1 is not a 780 HLS

Not quite. That is a simple answer...simple and wrong.

Isn't the 780 blued, anyway? Should be easy to tell apart if it is.
That is correct.

Originally, the HP9 had a 5-shot tube and the HP9-1 had a 4-shot tube. This meant that the 5-shot model was not completely compatible with the Remington 870 or the HP9-1. More recently, retailers have been advertising 14" barrel, 4-shot tube shotguns as "Norinco HP-9".

Buyer beware. If it matters to you, confirm barrel length, magazine tube capacity, metal finish, and the particular receiver features before buying.
