The setup is :
Dlask 20 barrel
Dlask receiver
Kidd cnc bolt
2 Ruger mag
1 Hot lips mag

The problem is:
I can't use the ruger mags with out having any jams or misfeed (Stove pipe I think it's called). I tried many many brands of bullets. Every HP is a big no-no.
Last time I went shooting the bolt jam shut on an live round, could not open the bolt at all. I had to remove the trigger assembly to me able to move the bolt backward. What could be the problem?
I cleaned and oiled it a bit nothing works.:(

with trigger group out will the hammer reset? can you pull the trigger and have the hammer come up and then reset it with ease ? is there anything binding in the trigger group?, Is the bolt binding at all in the receiver without the trigger group or cocking handel? is the cocking handle draging on the receiver ?

Also check the barrel , see if it's deformed ( firing pin hit breach face ) I had it happen once with a volquartsen bolt . It left a little dimple in it and would cause endless mis feeds. I agree with the above post it's more than likely the bolt binding either on trigger or somewhere in the receiver is it a flat top or the railed receiver? If you put a scope rail on make sure the screws are not purtruding into the reciever

The extractor is the one that came with the kidd, the trigger group fonction very well no binding their. The receiver is the one with the rail machined on it. I will take it apart this weekend and take pictures maybe it could help. the bolt assembly is a kidd also and came with 3 spring of different tension I use the standard one.

I'm having the same kind of problem, same setup as yours. After I fire a shot, the next round seems to not chamber properly, ( the bullet is contacting the top of the chamber) if I rack the bolt manually, all is good, but when it autoloads the next round-I get a jam, then clear it and rack the bolt manually and it's all good again. It happens with the stock 10 round mag, butler creek 25 round mags (steel lip) and I've tried adjusting my Tactical innovations adjustable mags as well. I'm at a loss, the only thing I can think of is the bolt assy. is dragging in the reciever and either not travelling all the way back, or having enough force on the reload stroke to properly chamber a round.
Maybe the new parts have to wear in or something, but it's really pissing me off!

keep your rifle clean?

To be a bit clear on the stovepipe, that's what it's called when the case gets caught by the bolt after it has fired. Looks like a chimney pipe or stove pipe sticking out the side of the firearm.

I don't thing that's what you got.

Bolt jammed up solid? Sounds like time to look at the fit of the bolt with the rails.

For the misfeeds, look for rough spots inside the mag, as well as sharp edges on the chamber. Esp. if the missfed cartridge's bullet is showing a shaved chunk hanging off it.

What chamber? Match? Betz? Standard? If you bought a Match chamber, and expect to feed it bulk grade ammo, not gonna work. Bentz is a half-breed between Standard and Match, to deal with the looser specs of standard ammo but to still be better than a Standard chamber as far as accuracy goes.

Got a felt tip marker? Some marker anywhere that rubbing is suspected, and then cycle the bolt a few times. Should show if there is contact.

Read through the sticky on the 10/22 and you will see where to look for mag issues.

The fun with custom builds! Gotta figure out which part was made to which measurement , that causes grief working with which other part that was buolt tp which other measurement...etc.

Good luck.

Cheers

Perhaps try this. I had the same problem with 25 round mags. Did this mod and works well now.

Butler creek magazine quick fix

If you are having the problem of the cartridges not moving up in the Butler Creek Steel Lips magazine's. Here is the quick fix.

This is usually caused by the rims catching on a small area near the rear of the metal cartridge guide. You can fix it by using a small, flat jeweler's file and removing a very small amount of the ramped area marked in red. (See photo)

Went to the club last night 200 round not a single jam, using only 25 rounds hot lip mag.
But can't use anything else. But I noticed that when the mags are in place the can move quite a bit back and forth, like they don't lock thigh enough in place. What is the normal play between mag and receiver?
